Yay I finally finished this!I'm very happy with the outcome and very proud of myself with this piece. I tried to do a little bit of realism
. Not sure how realistic it would be but I don't care I love it.Almost 100 layers if I'm wrong. The nebulae alone was almost half that.
So yeah

WOW very nice and sexy, just wondering how ur nebula is so sharp-ish and smooth looking all my attempts seem to make it pixelated....

Just practice and practice. I use brushing and textures to get the shape I want. Also, start off really big so when you resize it it looks perfect.

haha my computer cant handle large images it always comes up with 'fatal error not enough RAM' and crashes, oh well

Very nice work!
One little point: I'd remove some of the smaller stars to make the starfield a bit more random

Planets weren't the real focus, so I kept em small and simple.

The nebula DOES look nice, I admit I wasn't expecting anything great from the thumbnail lol, thought maybe this would have been a quickie, but I see it's not
You must have a good computer, I would never dare use 100 layers, I don't think I've had anymore than 30 for one peice at any given time, and even that causes massive slow-downs and crashing too

For the lines it's simple. I made a new document, made it square. Filled with black and rendered some noise. Then I radial blurred it (zoom) and messed with the levels.
The key trick to making them look good is mess with opacity, levels, and sharpening them.
And I also erased some of the rays.
