Could have gone conceptual on this i suppose. I believe these are actually Narcissus flowers... but not totally certain. If anyone knows better, do tell me.After posting self portraits done with a mirror... well, this just had to be...
This is a straight photo... upped the contrast ever so slightly... the stems just turned out very dark and I thought that was awesome!

I love this ..it makes me think of some Island in the Pacific..during the war years...that sticky, fecund heat..the beautiful dresses...the darkness approaching.

Oh, thanks This is one of my favorite images and strangly it was taken mid day but the ground behind made it so dark.

I wish I could get more than one of mine to bloom at a time. Your seem a lot brighter colored than mine, as well. I really like the randomness of the flowers. No one flower seems more important than another.

These were in my neighbor's flower garden. She grows them and many many other flowers to take to church each sunday. So she grows them in great quantity! She's in her late 80s and still gets out there to garden!

Very cool. It's good to hear she's still out and about, enjoying herself. ^_^ I think when I get to have a garden of my own, I want something Secret Garden-esque. Not really much of a lawn, just flowers everywhere! Hopefully I'll be able to garden until I'm 80!

no doubt you will be gardening that long.. Yes, I don't like lawns unless they are huge and grand...lol... lots of plants and flowers.. that is my thing.. and preferably ones that come back forever and spread!

very beautiful. by darkening the background. the white and orangish yellow flowers really pop. but not too much where its overwhelming. just enough to where you go wow.

Wow, yea, it almost looks like a chain of flowers rather then a group of them. This is very nice, they stand out so well against the dark background. nice work.

wow, so elegant! like a painting by one of great masters of art: dark background and bright and a delicate and full of grace flower (I've never seen a flower like this, by the way -- it's like an orchid mixed with narcissus). great job!

Yes, my favorite thing about it... and I had to do almost nothing.. somehow the devine photon gods deinged to bless me with a high contrast image without me planning it. I must be living right.

They are narcissus.. growing from the ground with slim dark green stems and leaves... but they do look a bit like orange blossoms. LOL The fragrance of orange blossoms always makes me light headed.. it's a strange thing...

thanks so much.. I've had a 'growth spurt' in my photography or maybe the editing of them. It's come about from dA and seeing good work repeatedly and realizing I was good but needed to take it up a few notches. I'm still working on that. I'm happy you noticed.

I feel the same way. I see a lot of great stuff on here especially in regards to lighting. It made me realize that I need to pay more attention to it and take more shots to get more variations on the lighting.
