thank you!! I have been having the best time doing all this work. I used to do very precise, photographic stuff but now i am letting loose and having fun with texture and paint - streams of consciousness stuff, i think. I am a school teacher, so i have a weeks holiday coming up next week and i plan to get loads of stuff done..i have 4 or 5 pics almost finished..I can't wait to get at them!!Thanks again for your comment - i have read some of your comments to Myvonne(?) and i respect your ideas and experience

I find that working with photos or art is a way for me to release my inner self. In that freeing proccess I dig deeper into myself and find that these things ( texture and paint - streams of consciousness) naturally come to me. It's wonderful to let them come flying out of you. It really makes you apprecite who you are as well as the world alot better. I will be looking forward to seeing more of your work.
thank you for your wonderful comment on my comments btw...

I have an old SLR 35mm camera which i always have in my car. Sometimes you will be driving somewhere and you see something amazing - probably just a change in light over a rather nondescript scene you have passed hundreds of time before..and suddenly its like something ethereal, something supernatural has crept into the world. I remember one time i was driving home from work along a country road after rain. I looked into the rear vision mirror and the light hit the road behind me , turning it to molten silver. I couldn't believe it. I stopped and took a photo and then i just stood there and watched it fade back into the road i knew..lovely.

Yes!!! And i remember reading a book by annie dillard that mentioned this blind girl who after an operation, is able to see for the first time. Dimension and colour are foreign to her and everything was just this blur of light and tone. She then saw a tree with the light hitting it and said - ah, a tree of lights - and Annie dillard goes on to say that wherever she is , she looks for that tree of light - when the crack opens and eternity slips in for a second. When i drive or walk, i look for those moments,,,when the nondescript becomes transcendental....you too, obviously.

I am going to have to pick that book up. It Sounds magnificent! I think that every photographer looks for moments like that! We are more perseptive to those moments and we want to share that with the world. That's why we see, we love, we click, and shoot.

Very true. The book is called pilgrim at tinker's creek by dillard. Some people find her a bit pretentious in her style, but i love the images she creates. She goes off, a bit like thoreau and lives in the wilderness for a while, reflecting upon what she sees and feels. Barry Lopez is another writer like that...he spent time in the Arctic and writes beautifully about the things he sees - Arctic Dreams - i am a bit of a naturalist at heart.
