Description Welp, Here's the robot that I had in my scraps for a while, And it is.... DONE! hehe...I added the antennas on later...didn't get to take more pics because of time. I chose to do this robot not only because it looks cool but because of practice, its very hard to get a hard edge with a soft medium! So I wanted to take on the challenge! It was extremely fun and time consuming as well! Hehe.

This robot was created by Chris Mullins for his short story β€œBlue” and I modeled it. The link is [link] Check it out!! Very cute story and very professional looking. Definitely more to come...TomatoDragon's Stipp is on her way! So stay tuned!

Sculpted with Super Sculpey
About 7 inches tall
Stands on its own
Lost track of the time

On a side note:

I'm going to be losing the internet service this week before the big, anticipated move, so I might not be on for a while...I wanted to take this time and say I really appreciate all the comments you guys give!! It means a loooooooott!! and that I do read all the comments! I'm very sorry I can't respond to all your comments or work, but I promise I will. Again thanks in advance for your support on my models thus far! It really motivates me to do more and more and more YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME!!!

YES! it IS hard to get a hard edge! (Aggravating even!)

This is even more impressive now that I fooled with a lump of clay and know what it feels like >.<

HOW AMAZING this guy is! I love the little wires in the arms too!

Excellent job, I mean Christ a cracker robots are the hardest sculptures to tackle in my opinion.
Me myself I'll take the wussie way out and make a rubber mold of one arm and one leg so I can get that manufactured look.
But you did all of that by hand and it looks flawless, kudos and congratulations!

Wow! Great to hear from you my friend! Glad you like this robot...let me say it was a pain in my arse..hehe. It was really hard to parallel the legs/arms/details! hehe...but I managed slowly but surely. Not as manufactured as I'd like, but I do think I got pretty close! hehe, Thanks so much for your comment! It’s always nice to hear from an amazing sculptor!

Oh my gawd... I can't believe the stuff you do with sculpey. It's been a while since I picked some up, but you make me want to grab some right now and start molding. You've definitely inspired me to do some more stuff.

MumboJumbo In reply to Aintes [2005-06-06 13:25:58 +0000 UTC]

hahah, Wow! I'm so happy that I inspired someone to do clay works! My job is done here And btw! I checked out your website and looked at your bio, and was VERY amazed that you're painting experience was the exact same as my clay experience.

"Over the next few years I continued to paint, at first sporadically and then with increasing frequently.
By 2003 I was painting on a regular basis, and began exhibiting my works.

Painting has become a part of my life, a way to express myself and to keep myself sane."

Well said, that is exactly what happened with me and clay! hehe, Very cool!

"I'm married (10th anniversary in 2004!) to a beautiful woman who loves my artwork and acts as my artist's rep. We have no children and no plans for children, but do have a very cute bunny."

Congrats on your anniversary (even though it's a bit late ) And you're wife sounds like me..hehe. My boyfriend's an animator and I love his work and really do act as his rep! haha And we also have the same view as you about no children..haha. I have a dog instead of a bunny. And I live in NY as well! Just found it interesting!

Glad I could inspire you, there are a lot more models to come, so stay tuned!

woah, you are getting really good. I fully understand how difficult it is to make edges like that. But you have done a great job. You have those lines on the fingers as well. That must have took ages.

A great piece of work. Really love the details in the little dude

Just a quick question. Do you keep the wires from the model to the stand in after you have baked it? or do you make it so that he stands freely?

Again, great work my friend

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

MumboJumbo In reply to hypermind [2005-05-25 19:46:46 +0000 UTC]

Yes basically what Leejc said...Only I started to cutthe wire off before I bake my models because its easier to hide the wire that way...then there's not evidence of the wire. But yes, you could fire it then cut it off...whatever works for the model! Thanks for the questions! And thank you for your comment, glad you like it, it means a lot!

hypermind In reply to MumboJumbo [2005-05-25 19:55:42 +0000 UTC]

Wee. I like learning about sculptures. I can't wait to start my own. All i need now is money

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 0

leejc In reply to hypermind [2005-05-24 21:56:33 +0000 UTC]

I shouldn't be answering this as this is not my piece but if I am correct, the wires is there to keep it standing during the sculpting and baking. The reason being is that the medium is not that strong and cannot not stand on its own. Expecially when it is baking, there is a period when the clay goes even softer during the baking and they often deform under gravity a bit. The wire is there to keep him standing and is cut off after baking so that he can stand on his own.
