Description Photo taken in August, 2016 @ Landgoed Hoenderdaell, The Netherlands

I suspect this to be one of the girls from the aforementioned pride, who performed in a circus for 10 years. Not sure if there's a tuft of black at the tip of her tail or not because with all the movement going on in the photo, it didn't take on the photo So it could very well be quiet girl Dumi, but also the darker hued Sarabi. Not entirely sure.

Here are more photos of Bakari's pride, and sole male Omar, in the hunting simulator:

We didin't really know how to handle the photography conditions inside, so you will notice some irregularities and hardships like the obvious moments in these photos.

Species: African Lion (Afrikaanse leeuw)

Latin name: Panthera Leo

Originates from Africa and West Asia.

Current status: Vulnerable

 Did you know:

…It is the second-largest living Cat, after the Tiger, but the tallest – at the shoulder – of all living cats.

…Lions are the only members of the Cat family to display obvious sexual dimorphism, meaning that males and females look distinctly different.

…Lions in captivity tend to be larger than Lions in the wild.

I don't think there's a black tuft on the end of her tail... even when it's moving. So maybe this is Dumi?
Either way... she is very beautiful. And it looks like she's dressed to kill! (some imaginary prey, I am sure...)

Great photo!

I thought so too - I'm going to have to check and see if my Dad still has the video he took - hopefully there's audio on there and the time might help identify these lions

They were really stunning, it's amazing to have been able to see these felines in action like this Pretty awesome especially to see that they'll really stick to the max 5 minutes for the sessions and don't force the cats to chase if they don't feel like it

Aah, yes... sometimes photographic evidence can be augmented by videographic evidence as well. See if your dad has anything recorded!

The thing is... I'm usually a more canine person. But these cats are really beautiful. And it's very touching knowing their stories, too. Imagine finally having a nice place to live after having to work in a circus show for 10 years. I call this retirement heaven! Of course, I am not saying that the girls show any sign of aging at all!

Yeah, it was - I've cropped the photo just a bit to make the lion the main focus, so the snack on the hunting simulator is out of the picture but definitely her/his focal point
