I cannot resist big, floppy wizard hats, clothes that defy gravity and...red heads.I'm also a fan of costumes that are simple but have a lot of visual interest, architectural detail and contrast. Hopefully, I achieved this with my design.
This was sketched and lined in SAI, and colored in Photoshop; all with a Bamboo Fun. I did a lot of random filter and layer style experiments to get the colors to pop, and I'm pretty happy with the results. I might mess with the composition, though...let me know if you think it looks off balance.
The staff is based loosely on the staff wielded by one of my favorite Digimon. A shiny new Llama badge for whoever can guess which one... :3
6/5/10: fixed some weird little errors. I think this piece is pretty solid now. hurray!

This is the one I keep coming back to look at. So much subtle repetition in the design. It really serves as a quality piece that you can learn from. The earrings mimicking the ruffles of her dress...ha! ..it's just awesome!

cool submission and best of luck in the contest. i'll wager angemon is the digimon..since he's the only one besides jijimon i can recall with a staff. if i'm right(which i doubt i am) please keep the llama badge, as i don't really care much for spitting ruminants.

I've started using some other textured brushes with the smudge tool [instead of basic round], and the results are nice; more organic feeling.
Instead, I will bring you a real llama. I will put it on your porch.
