Thank you very, very much for saying this.

I don't really think that most of what I've posted into my gallery is worth much of anything .....but I'm happy if you like it all the same.

Peace.

Thank you! I'm happy if you liked it. I think it was probably the most successful thing I've managed to do with Terragen so far.....

Thank you very much. It's not a photo, though.....just a Terragen render. But I'm happy if you think it's so realistic that it looks like one.

Peace.

Awww thank you. It had come out better than I expected, really....the sepia base sun color seems to have worked really well, and suited perfectly for expressing the feeling I was trying to put into this. I'm glad you like it.

You should submit this one to ~ Sepia-Club

Thank you so much. I would be glad to submit it to ~Sepia-Club , if you really think it is worth this....I didn't actually do any sepia coloring on it (though it seems to have naturally come out in sepia colors because the base sun color was a light sepia), but if you wish, I could work on it in PaintShopPro or PhotoSuite and add some more sepia color.

Peace.

Another question.....do I have to send a note to ~Sepia-Club with a link to it and its title and description in order to submit it?

No... you only post the photo and add the comment "I permit ~ Sepia-Club to submit this work".

And thank you for the suggestion .....I think I could handle being a moderator, since I have 24 hour a day Internet access and spend much time at the PC, but I wonder, what would be needed for me to do? I'm sorry about being this confused about such simple things.....it's just that I've never really moderated a group/club before (or I just don't remember ), so that I don't really know what is required for this.

Peace.

ok, is the cloud formation over the mountains supposed to look like an eye or is that just my wierd imagination ?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

moonflower77 In reply to artsy13 [2004-05-09 11:27:16 +0000 UTC]

No, I didn't really intend it to look that way, it seems that it came out like this purely by accident......actually, I didn't notice this myself until you pointed it out.

Peace.

once you see the eye it looks quite watchful and majestic. i see a few other more subtle images like a sleeping dog in the mountains on the right side.

are you kidding? great stuff they are. i used to do alot of landscapes when i lived in colorado in the 80s , took my dog out into the mountains with me with an easel and canvas on my back and spent the day painting out there. yours are the first pics that actually make me want to do landscapes again. so do you take pictures of your own and collage them together digitally or are they other peoples stock photos that you work from. i often wondered this.

moonflower77 In reply to artsy13 [2004-05-09 11:24:45 +0000 UTC]

Thank you.

No ....these are just pictures that Terragen generates all by itself. One doesn't need to use any photos for this (though I think one could use some jpeg pictures to help with it, but it's not necessary). All one has to do is to adjust the various settings - for the terrain, the lighting, the clouds, the terrain surface - and the program will generate a landscape that can look very close to a photo of a real place. Then one can change the settings until one finds the ones that look best of all. And then when the image is finished, one can post-process it in a program such as PhotoShop. That's what I like Terragen for - one can make pictures of places that have never existed which look almost like photos, and one doesn't need to use any stock images for it.....

Peace.

thanks for explaining this program. i dont know much of these things. pretty soon we wont need cameras. it is amazing how you can paint images with this program.

moonflower77 In reply to artsy13 [2004-05-13 10:25:43 +0000 UTC]

Yes. I had no idea about Terragen myself until fairly recently.....but once I discovered it, I was simply entranced by all the possibilies it offers for making landscapes of all imaginable types. Especially sunset or sunset-like scenes, and waterscapes with incredible reflections on them.

Peace.

oooooh why so small?! wished it were bigger... - great terrain and atmosphere... the sunbeams are great the overall lighting and the reflections in the water are good too. great composition.

moonflower77 In reply to tigaer [2004-05-13 10:21:54 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! I'm very happy that you liked it so much. I guess it's one of the very few renders in my gallery that came out more or less nice....and very unexpectedly, at that. I was suprised myself when I saw how it came out.

I would've gladly made it larger too.....but unfortunately my computer is not that good, and absolutely wouldn't handle a longer rendering time without freezing or crashing altogether. It seems to barely cope even with the small-sized renders I usually do. It's a great pity, really.

Peace.

another beautiful pic. where do you take these photosanyways? would you mind if i tried to do a painting from one of your photos?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

moonflower77 In reply to artsy13 [2004-05-08 21:48:22 +0000 UTC]

These are not really photos ....I make them with a program called Terragen, which allows to model various kinds of landscapes. Though it makes me really happy if you feel that those images really do look realistic enough to be taken for photos. I personally keep thinking that I'm pretty bad at making them, that they turn out too simplistic or too unreal-looking even for a piece of surreal art.....

And yes, of course it would be perfectly fine with me if you'd like to do a painting from one of these images. It makes me feel so grateful that you wish to do such a thing.....thanks a lot. I really appreciate it. Not that I feel any of those images of mine really deserve it, but anyway.....

Peace.

One of your best ones yet.

I like how the water shows the reflection of the clouds. Very surreal looking.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

moonflower77 In reply to Rocker28 [2004-05-08 17:48:53 +0000 UTC]

Thank you.

I did my best to make it look as surreal as possible.....mysterious and somewhat dark, though not in a depressing way. I was feeling somehow lost at the time, in a good sense, and I tried as best as I could to make the image convey the feelings of tranquility and wonder and confusion which I was going through all at the same time.

I made the water highly reflective (probably more so than would be needed for a more realistic render), chose the "clouds cast shadow" option, and spent a long time looking for a good position for the sun and clouds. Though when I finished it, I was a bit concerned that it didn't come out well, because I felt at first that the shadows in the left-hand side of the picture are just too thick and there's too much of them. I'm happy that you liked it.

Peace.
