30 x 40 inches, oil on canvas. Completed June 2006.The model is my maternal grandmother, and the location is Clarke House in Orange Park, modified a bit for my purposes.
I had a deliberate anxiety I was trying to express in this piece, but I like knowing what others read in it, so I'd rather not say what my anxiety was at the time.

The anxiety I feel when looking at this is utter loneliness and fear of being forgotten. Is that correct? It's very moving. It reminds me of my mom and how we forget to look at older people with the respect and love they so deserve. It's exquisite! Lonely:

She seems afraid or worried about someone, maybe a family member or someone dear to her that is located somewhere where a storm is hitting or has hit, very nice, you have done a beautiful job with her expression.

This painting is exuisite. The detail on her skin makes her look like a branch that's been weakened by water.

This one is unbelievable...It tells about a calm sunny day...but underneath in the back ground you just feel theres something amiss...but what?
Its the calm worrying pose the model has.. that along with the beautiful sunny atmosphere...

She looks like she only just realized something worrying, and I like the contrast between her anxiety and the sunny day ambient.

this is beautiful, the sunlight is gorgeous. i like the idea of using the subjects to evoke what the artist is feeling...as opposed to just a mere portrayal of that subject and their feelings.
i am really curious now as to what that anxiety is... note me, if you wish... i'd love to view the painting again in light of that knowledge.

This is probably my favourite. The way you have painted the light shining is very real. I also like the small details such as the individual leaves and the wood textures.

Middleburg!! That's where Slim Whitman is from. Seriously. I just drove through there the other day and had a chuckle at the McDonald's that looks like a plank cabin.

Yep, he lives in a place called....(drum roll) Woodpecker Hollow (symbol)...The McDonald's has a country music theme and they play it on the PA. Of course that's what you would expect from Middleburg.

I suppose it means what you see it to mean. I intended her to portray a particular anxiety for me, however, that has nothing to do with a disease. And I wonder if my mentioning what that anxiety was would void its individual meaning for anyone else who sees it.
