Cool.

I'd like to suggest an idea for another "tiaki" design...

Black with translucent coloring on the back, like the protector of Earth, but have it be trans lime green instead of purple, and have the accent points painted lime green to match. Physically restructure the Mask itself to look a little more like Toothless' head, while still fitting on a G2 head. And a small, shallow vertical scar over the right eyehole.

Now THAT would definitely be my first purchase from you, the second being one that was gold instead of black. The premise being that it was a Mask of Adaptation or something.

Another thing... On your website, in the shop, the links for the standard and speciality masks are swapped. One button links to the other's page, and vice versa

But yes, I will commission it, if a way to get something within your outstanding skillset can be arranged to both our satisfaction.

The main problem with that is that I can't really do translucent, especially not a translucent fade. When I paint the masks I have to spray with whole thing with primer to get the paint to stick, and while I can mask some areas off to preserve translucency, a mask has a hard edge that doesn't work for fades. So I would have to mold my own mask to get a black/trans lime-green fade, and that's a little bit beyond my capabilities at the moment. However something along the lines of what you're describing is possible as long as the translucent qualities are left out. If that's fine with you you can always e-mail me at modaltcom@gmail.com to commission me!

Alright, cool.

Just a thought... When you do the "scaled" paint jobs, do you pain on the scales themselves, leaving the base color to show through betwixt them, or are the "scales" the base color, with the in-between bits being the final layer? (Rhetorical question, since you have your own secret methods which should remain secret.)

If it's the first way, then using a green Protector mask as a base would make things a bit easier...

As to the translucent bits, I wouldn't mind a hard transition from solid black to trans green... Running an isosceles-triangle-shaped spike to the tip of each... flange-y... bit... on the back, that'd be fine with me.

To be honest, I kinda assumed you mostly painted by hand, though the spraying part makes more sense for speed.

Nevertheless, I love your work. Pay no real heed to my ramblings, though, if they approach sensitive areas in any way.

I paint on a base color, then the lines in between, then highlights over the base color. I could definitely do a trans back with a hard edge, that would be fine. The only part that I spray on is a black primer so that the paint sticks better, all the colors and detailing are hand painted.

Awrite, sounds good. So, jungle protector mask as a base it is. And the reshaping to look a bit more Toothless-like is no problem?

If you've got a plan, I'll commission it tomo-- uh, later today. (~2am here, lol...)

And if you particularly like the finished product, I have no problem with you putting the design up wherever. In fact, I'd probably encourage it!

I mean, it's your work after all, so you have the final say, but still. Just thought I'd mention that.

PS: do you put any type of sealer coat on after it's done, to protect the paint job?

What exactly do you mean by toothless? There's not much mouth material on protector masks to begin with.

As in, "Toothless the Night Fury" from How To Train Your Dragon

His head is kinda flat, with barely any bottom jaw to speak of, (it's really thin...) He's kinda slightly popular with dragon lovers everywhere

(Edit: )
I've decided against the "reshaping" thing, instead going for having circular part of the mold mark thingy by the mouth removed, (not the tiny sickle-shaped bit above it,) thus having it look a bit more like a masquerade mask.
