Description I like the simplicity of this and the way the different temperature light sources divide the picture.

The blue and the green and the magenta work wonderfully together. Nice shot! Don't think I've seen blue chopsticks before, lol

my thoughts on this image: do you know how awkward it would be to pick up lettuce leaves with a chopstick? not to mention futile.

the little string holding the chopsticks together is indeed very simple. and somehow very pretty. the blue and black go well together. i'm divided on whether i would have liked the lettuce to be in focus or not. i like the blurred colors, but in focus they might have looked like flowers accentuating the delicate string. yeah, i know that sounded corny.

I like the concept with two light sources of different temperature. It makes this photo colorful, but in a subtle way... Love the composition!

Well I saw this photo a while back and have been wanting to comment on it since. I love the punchy colours in the photo and the shallow depth of field used. The composition is excellent - which I've come to expect from you. The lines the chopstick makes really lead my eyes into the photo. I love the even lighting too.

Nice one.

jobias [2004-08-09 01:26:11 +0000 UTC]

You're right, the color contrast does a lot for this. It helps to frame up the top portion of the image, and the chopsticks can flow nicely to the bottom. If I could offer some constructive criticism, I would prefer if a lot more, or even all, of the image was in focus. I don't really know why...I guess it's kind of a crappy suggestion, but there it is.

Yes, I agree that the divide between either side of the chopsticks looks great. Lovely colours and nice DOF. I particularly like the effect from the circles on the thingy underneath.

Minimalism at its finest. There's something that makes this photograph feel so complete, the use of red, green and blue (primary colors) perhaps. Nice DOF and great use of the chopsticks to add some 'direction' to the photo.

How exactly did you get the lights to do that? That's so awesome.. Did you take different watt bulbs and put them on either side of the chop sticks?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

mnoo In reply to AbsoluteReverie [2004-08-06 19:56:49 +0000 UTC]

Actually I only had one lamp. A warm spotlight on the right. And natural (cold) light from the window on the left.

I'm glad you like it.
