I thought I would do a quick little step-by-step tutorial since I haven't done one in a long long time lol It took about 30 mins. Here is a link to the referenced feather- 4.bp.blogspot.com/_nxrC0NZIO1o… It doesn't look exactly like it, but eh it was done in 30 mins

Back to school work lol!! but here is a quick run down on the steps-

Steps 1-3... sketch contour of feather, lay down base color, and start the texture.

Steps-4-6.... continue working on texture and start paying attention to color saturation.

Steps 7-9... add more detail and pay attention to what you REALLY see- not what you know.

Steps 10-12... more detail and begin adding the main light source and shadows.

Step 13... I add some blue to the shadows as a compliment to the warm lights
