A while back I asked watchers if they had any characters they'd offer for me to practice with. BlackDodgeDragon offered Tabitha as a Practice for Progress piece. It's taken me over a 1 months on and off painting this. About 3-4 sessions and about 8 hours total. I had a lot of fun painting fur and feathers- trying to learn blending depth and pay attention to Ambient Occlusion. It has helped to add more depth. In doing color studies on other artist's work, it is VERY rare for artists to go beyond 80-90% black /darkness for the darkest darks in the work. And nothing higher than 10% black is used for highlights (nose, eye reflection, etc).

Anyways, I have 2-3 on the list. I will start another piece in the future. I am still painting personal stuff in between I post a lot on Twitter @ mmwoodcock
