My last drawing of 2012.It's the beautiful and talented kpop singer Son Dam Bi.
Became a fan since I saw her in the music video Amoled with kpop group After School.
I wanted to try something different so I came up with the concept for playing cards. The idea was to show a mix of normal cards with cards done specially related to Son Dam Bi. This included her logo name, record label, close friend Kahi, and recognisable songs. The layout drove me crazy. I found it really tricky to draw with all the cards overlapping one another.
I joined a kpop website called Gurupop last year in november as I thought it would be fun to get to know other kpop fans. This was my entry in a competition for Son Dam Bi and was started late november and completed around mid december. They had a deadline so I spent alot of hours trying to finish it in time.
I was lucky to be chosen as one of the winners! I won a signed cd and poster.
Around december time it started to get really busy at work so I couldn't come on DA very much. I decided to post this up after the new year.
A4 size paper. I really couldn't find a spot to include my sig so it's left off for now!

I love the composition and the details on this! I really like Son's music, too (my favorite song right now being "Dripping Tears"). LOL! Great to see another K-Pop fan here.

OHHHH, don't get me started! LOL!! I've been deep into K-Pop ever since last summer and there's so many acts that impress me a lot. My top favorites are 2NE1, Brown Eyed Girls, Miss A and Lee Hi (for the girls) and for the guys I like U-Kiss, Big Bang, Exo-K and Shinee. I do like some hip-hop acts, too, like MFBTY and Dynamic Duo.

Yeah, I really liked Bloom, too! As a whole, Talk About S is a good album. It was definitely different from what we usually expect from her. 
So, who are your personal favorites? A lot of the acts that I know are mainstream pop so I don't know that many indie groups/singers.

Hard to decide as in kpop you come across so many new groups/singers!
Two of my favorite groups are After School and Davichi. I also like SNSD, AOA, Gavy NJ, Exid, T-ara, Rania, Hello Venus and Wonder Girls.
Solo singers I like BoA, IU, Ailee and Ami. JeA from Brown Eyed Girls and Park Bom from 2NE1 solo songs were great too!
I'm sure there are more I've missed out on!

I've never heard of Ami before but I'm familiar with the rest of the groups/singers you named. I never listened to any songs from Hello Venus, IU or Davichi but I know about Gavy NJ through T-ara's "Day and Night".
I'm excited about Rania's supposed debut in the U.S. that's coming soon! Not sure if they'll stay in the same direction as they're in now but it'll be interesting. JeA's and Ailee's solo albums are both pretty good and EXID's album is good, too. I wanna buy them but I'm not too crazy about spending $20 on a CD with only 5 songs on it. LOL!

Yeah it was only when I started listening to female solo kpop singers that I came across many I hadn't heard of before.
I do get concerned about kpop acts breaking into the US. All that stuff that happened with T-ara at a Chris Brown gig didn't turn out very well. Hopefully Rania do well.
Yeah kpop cds are pretty expensive! They are more like mini albums but with full album prices! Most of them do come with nice photobooks and cards so I guess that's why they cost alot.
There's been alot of comebacks and new songs lately. Anything you like?
I was happy to see AOA come back. Brown Eyed Girls new song which resembles Kill Bill!
I'm not really into 2NE1's new song Do You Love Me but it's great they are back as well as kpop girl group FX.
Former Wonder Girl Sunmi is back as a solo singer with a new sexy look and song!

There's some really good comebacks lately! I just checked out Kara's comeback, Damaged Lady, and Infinite's newest song, Destiny, today and they're both really good songs. B.E.G.'s Kill Bill is great, too, and I'm planning on buying their new album, whenever I feel ready to spend $20. LOL! B.A.P's Badman and Hurricane are cool and EXO's Growl is just AWESOME. I'm really enjoying FX's Pink Tape album and I can't wait to buy that one, as well. G-Dragon's new stuff is really interesting and I like Seungri's new song, Gotta Talk To U.
Yeah, I'm really liking Sunmi's 24 Hours, too! It's really catchy and it actually reminds me of Son Dam-Bi. Song wise, I can see her singing something like that but the choreography and video is definitely something that Ga-In from B.E.G. would do.
Recently, I bought a copy of Lee Hyori's Monochrome for a great price online and I also bought a discounted copy of 2NE1's first mini album. So, I'm realizing now that I have to stay watchful to find a good deal, when it comes to the more expensive albums. LOL!
Yeah, the whole thing with T-ara N4 and Chris Brown was just a hot mess. LOL! Not only did he take the girls to a damn Hooter's but he also had them perform at some silly beach party thing he held and he even interrupted their performance halfway to talk to the audience about his new album. At this point, I'm not totally sure if Rania will debut in the US because their plans to do so keep on being delayed by their company. The same thing happened to 2NE1 and even CL said in an interview that their US debut is not going to happen (at least, not for a while). So, my dream for a K-Pop band to put their stamp on U.S. soil IS temporary dashed but I'm staying hopeful. If boy bands like One Direction, Big Time Rush and The Wanted can make it, than so can a Korean band. LOL!

It's a shame both Ji Young and Nicole are leaving the group.
Son Dam Bi finally had a comeback with Red Candle. Disappointed she didn't do any live performances of her new song.
Been a interesting start to the new year 2014. Alot of girl groups making sexy comebacks like Girls Day, Dalshabet, AOA and Rainbow Blaxx.
Gain has made a solo comeback and Sunmi will too this month along with Girls Generation!

Yeah, I'm sad that Nicole and Jiyoung are leaving Kara, too. I thought Damaged Lady was great. I liked Red Candle but I never saw any live performances from her, either. Yeaah, lots of really cool comebacks have been happening this year, so far. I love Gain's comeback and I thought both of her videos were great. Sunmi kind of disappointed me this time around but the song is still ok. I'm super pumped up for GG and 2NE1's new album! GG's comeback got delayed but I know Mr. Mr. is going to be awesome.

Mr Mr MV finally released and the song already sounds quite catchy! But I'm not sure about the MV's use of quick cuts, lighting effects mixed with color and b&w shots. Seems like too much going on. I'm sure I'll get used to it if I watch it more. What do you think of it?

I heard online (and from people on Facebook) that DSP is going to add two new members to Kara and they're both Japanese. I'm super curious as to how crazy of a reaction people are going to have, once they come back to the scene.
Yeah, I loved the idea SM was trying to go for with Mr. Mr. but it definitely felt like a mixed bag of whatever. I have a strong suspicion that the black and white dance scenes were the footage that SM reshot with the girls in order to re-finish the video. LOL! They didn't really blend in well with the other stuff (apart from the special effects they used on it) and I would've loved to have seen more of the nurse concept fleshed out. The song itself is super catchy and I really like it but, like what other people have said, if SM made more of a risk with Mr. Mr., the video would've been an awesome step in a new direction for the girls. But hey, SM has a reputation to maintain with Girls Generation and he'd much rather play things safely. LOL!

Yes. I haven't caught up with it yet but DSP is looking for people to replace Jiyoung and Nicole on a show called "Kara Project". The show started about a month ago and I think the competition is still happening. You can find the episodes here, if you want to watch it.

Wow! That looks breathtaking. So many details. I keep looking at it and find new things every time. I absolutely love the concept with the playing cards. I love cards myself and was planning on doing something with them, but nothing would beat this. Brilliant!!!!

I tried to make it as detailed as possible. Some cards turned out better than others. The dB rider card I wish I done a better job on. Most difficult thing was making sure everything fit into place since most cards were not fully visible. The Kahi card was really difficult because her face was so tiny! The Queen card drove me crazy and I have Ken to thank because he told me I had to include one of the King, Queen or Jack cards!

It's understandable that it drove you crazy. With this amount of detail, it just couldn't have been easy on the patience. All the hard work does show though. The cards look perfectly real. Very wrll put together.

Well, quicker isn't always better. I think it's good to take your time with a drawing to get it perfect.

Choosing a ref has been hard for this drawing, cause it's for her so it's going to go on her wall and I decided to let her choose the ref. The problem is, we have a completely different taste, so whatever I like, she doesn't. We did manage to get a few she likes, so I'll be trying to draw one soon, hopefully.
