It's November 5th which means it's BoA's 20th Birthday (21 in Korea)! BoA 31 is dedicated to celebrating BoA's birthday so I wanted to do something alittle different and creative! Lucky for me I finished it in time! I was interested in doing something with color pen like I did for BoA's birthday last year with BoA 21. But that drawing was still an exact copy of a ref photo from a cd album, this time I wanted to use my own choice of colors. I chose to draw from a ref photo from one of her most recent cd single releases Key of Heart. I've always used a pencil outline for color pen drawings. But this time I decided to try the entire drawing only using color pen from start to finish just like how I would do black biro pen drawings! No felt tip pen markers to help shade quicker either! It's probably one of the hardest drawings I have ever done from her facial expression, to the posture with both hands holding the glass drink to her detailed top! That's before I even mention the background! I've never really done many drawings with a proper background so I thought this time I would do that.
After doing 30 BoA drawings I don't want to just continue just doing normal portraits of her. I've tried everything I could from using mixed media, drawn from as many different facial expressions, angles and poses. It's time to do some BoA drawings which have my own flavor to them! The next few BoA drawings will be totally different to what I normally do and I'm really excited about what I come up with!
