Pokeshipping Week 2015Day 2 - “Afraid of losing you” - November 2nd
I’m afraid I don’t have to say anything to it. I only can say, I’m very sorry for one person in this picture - and that is Serena. Misty only is hurt for the moment, thinking about a misunderstanding in the actual situation, while Serena has to deal with the fact “there’s someone else in his life” - and that’s way more cruel than only thinking the wrong thing. That really, really hurts. I know this too damn good myself.
So, I’m very sorry for Serena. I really want to hug her right now.
Sorry, this isn’t only Pokeshipping, but Amourshipping was very important for me in this situation, because both, Misty and Serena, love that dork. And he can be very insensitive towards girl’s feelings… Damn it, boy!

Why is Ash showing Serena the lure he got by Misty?
In my imagination everyone would be good friends with each other. Means, also Misty and Serena would become very good friends although they’re rivals when it comes to Ash’s love. But because of they are friends, I’m also headcanon-ing they could be happy for the other one if Ash had chosen one of them.
With this thinking Ash sees Serena as a very good and close friend, he would share his secrets with. Having a crush on Misty in my imagination, he sees Serena as a supportive companion to talk to about his feelings to Misty (although he doesn’t realize it hisself, he’s feeling something special for her; more than he does with any other friend). That’s why he’s showing the lure, his most worthwhile treasure, to Serena. He’s so happy and proud about to have it, not realizing he’s breaking her heart with that acting. Ash would never hurt one of his friends on purpose, but when it comes to love-things he’s as dense as ever; doesn’t think about other’s feelings, since he even can’t understand or realize his own(s). Showing Serena his biggest treasure makes her a very special friend to him. - But for Serena it’s the most heart-breaking thing that could have happened…

Regardless of the reason, he said it on everyone's behalf whether old or new people are involved. As such I have no need to continue this. You know what I mean by new people getting involved and I'm ready to accept whatever fate my life has, both in and out of the internet. And I can also admit that not everyone has to like anime!Serena and amourshipping. I have a feeling that one comment was also in regards to me liking anime!Serena and not just amourshipping. You've already seen that comment.

I miss Misty. She was probably the best female character on that show. Every female companion they've designed to take her place in Ash's posse is a poor carbon copy of her. They've literally tried to replace her every five seasons, but have failed. It was like when they tried to replace Brock after the first season with Tracey Sketchit the Pokemon artist (most obvious name ever) because they thought that his lady killer attitude was too weird for a kids show. But after fans commented how they missed Brock, they brought him back for third season. May had Misty's taste for competition, Dawn her need for high fashion and cuteness, Iris had her wild spirit and was also gym leader, and now Serena who like Misty was gentle and nurturing towards her Pokemon. Not to mention the fact that she's openly in love with Ash like Misty, but she liked to push it down so as not to ruin what she and Ash had already. All of these separate characteristics add up to Misty, but they can't put it all in one girl otherwise it's like openly admitting that getting rid of Misty was a mistake. Do I hate any of the girls who have come and gone through the show? No (well, kind of hated Dawn), but I would much rather have Misty back on the show.
I also miss Gary, he provided a much more healthier competition for Ash, more like a rivalry between brothers. Paul was always kind of a dick.

As much as I like Pokeshipping, I do admit I'm sick of the shipping war and would just be fine if none of the ships became canon. Both Misty and Serena have every right to feel bad here because of the misunderstanding and Ash being too dense for his own good. I do think that by the end of the day, they would be friendly with each other anyway.

I really love how you respected both shippings with this piece. It saddens me to see a fandom hate so much over shipping issues. I personally ship Ash and Misty because that's whom I've watched, but I still continue to watch the show just because I love watching the characters grow (okay, Ash may not grow physically, but he has become a very good mentor to his companions since first couple of seasons), and I love to imagine how much the characters who no longer have screentime grow (like Misty). Anyway, with all that said, I still respect the fact that other people have shippings they find more preferable, and I can see why they like them. I appreciated the fact that the writers included Serena (even though her affection for Ash is a "threat" to Misty), it helps the audience see that Ash isn't entirely as dense as he used to be (except when it comes to understanding love as you portrayed so brilliantly in your comic). He now knows how to compliment a girl when she's looking for one, and he knows what to say to cheer someone else up when they're feeling down because he's been there himself. He couldn't do any of those things in season 1 or 2, and you know, that's great because that just shows his character development.
Sorry. I didn't meant to rant on your page like that, but the whole shipping war is dividing the fans and making people feel like they can't admit who they want to see together because they might fall into *that* stereotype.
