here's an illustration I did a few months back!a lady was looking for someone to create a couple of illustrations for her upcoming book and this was a test illustration.
I came in second place, but at least I can show it here! X3
so basically, the little girl and boy were playing together when the girl went for the boy's stuffed sheep. he didn't like that and snapped at her, making her cry. the mother came in the room to see what happened and told the little boy that what he did wasn't nice. feeling bad, he decides to share his sheep with the girl so they can play together again =3
I tried to interpret the lady's story the best I could and create an illustration that would complement the text.
I also tried to add recognizable symbols for children such as numbers, letters, shapes and popular toys (ducks on a string anyone? =3)
inked with Sakura Microperm and Pilot Fineliner pens and colored with Prismacolor Premier and Alpha Design markers

Nice cute and consistent designs. It definitely looks like a children's play area. It's also pretty clear what happened story wise. "Ah ah ah! Be nice to your sister and share!"

and I'm really glad you commented on the mother's finger because when I first met the ladies, I mentioned the lines and duplication to better suggest that the mom was moving her finger and they thought it was a good idea!

J'aime beaucoup tes couleurs, mais je trouve que les enfants ont l'air trop vieux... Par ciriosité, avais-tu des exemples quand elles t'ont demandé des dessins?

j'avoue que je suis vraiment restée bête quand j'ai vu le commentaire, mais je suis allée voir ta galerie et c'est là que j'ai cliqué "OMG! c'est elle qui a fait les premières versions des illustrations!"
pour répondre à ta question, oui, Nadine avait présenté tes images pour montrer ce qui s'était fait, donc j'ai tenté de les réinterpréter, ou du moins celle-ci (difficile de réinventer la roue quand même^^')
tes images étaient vraiment chouette d'ailleurs! c'est dommage que cette version n'a pas vu le jour...
et quelle coïncidence de se croiser sur dA! je trouve ça génial X3
