I only drew it the way I did in the original because I wanted it to coincide with how you NEVER see his hair in the show, then I was all, "WTH, I'm making him human, I might as well take some artistic liberties. )<"

That does make it incredibly easy to draw him. He could be a kid, or a teenager, or a young man, and there aren't really any specific criteria one has to follow to make him look like him.
I actually thought of something the other day with an idea of how to make Clockwork human. o3o I can't tell you, though. It's a secret. ;D
