Description Because this is the kind of family I have, this is based on a joke someone made in my family's most recent round table discussion of the current relaunch. And just to be clear, I would read the hell out of this comic.

While Red Hood and the Outlaws is so far one of the titles I'm most interested in (I've seen some interviews with the writer that give me some hope; it was the first title referred to as "fun", and the writer says it will be about "the redemptive power of friendship"), and as much as I like the nice ring the title has to it, it does also make them sound like a three-piece punk rock band. Like Yeah Yeah Yeahs, only they fight crime too. Again, there is nothing about that description that I would not enjoy thoroughly, and I much prefer that to 90 percent of what I'm seeing in the actual relaunch. Therefore, my plan is to make my way into the inner workings of DC Comics and make this a reality. (Along with my awesome Captain Marvel/Stanley and his monster/Kid Eternity team up title.)

Some notes, my sister (who is responsible for this idea in the first place) made it very clear to me upon first seeing this that she intended Red Hood to be the singer and guitarist, Starfire to be on drums, and Arsenal the bassist. I originally thought of Arsenal on bass, too (he just exudes that feel), but someone needed to be the drummer (so we could have the logo on the drum), and Starfire had to be the singer (Karen O nod, plus I thought it would look awesome if she held the microphone and hovered there, like so) plus Red Hood can't be the singer if he wears that mask all the time. Therefore, this lineup, which I thought turned out pretty good. Also, the background is inspired by Scott Pilgrim.

Edit: The first issue is out today, and so far all I can say is: Damn damn damn damn damn damn damn.

Most of it was fine, and it sounds like it could be heading in the direction I wanted it to, but the new version of Starfire is so bad it torpedos my entire desire to continue reading. She sleeps with both team members in the first issue, and doesn't remember anyone from the Teen Titans because the new version of Tamaraneans have the memory of the guy from Memento.

that seems to be the bulk of everyone's complaints with the book. I haven't read it yet and the only things I know of Starfire are from the animated Teen Titans and some snippets here and there. While I disagree with her character changes I'll still buy it and probably the next couple of issues to see where it goes. but of course if I can't find a reason to keep reading after say the third issue I'll just save my money for the other bat family comics

I know her mainly from the cartoon as well, and that makes this transition particularly jarring. The comics version has generally been more sexual, but she always had an innocence and sweetness to her, and they've replaced that here with vapidity and short term memory loss, in the most unendearing fashion possible.

well my comics shop didn't have it so I still have to wait to read it myself. Anyways I expect due to all the complaints DC will eventually fix her, doubt the outfit will change though

The outfit's honestly no better than it ever was. It's slightly different, and more revealing but more covering in different places, probably showing nearly equal the same amount of skin. I actually would have preferred them to fix how bad the costume was from before, but they actually just made the new personality match the same old costume.

This was one I had been planning on buying until I read the early reviews; then I read it via torrent to test out if it was really that bad and low and behold, it was.

Well I finally read the thing and yep I don't like her character change either. I'm still gonna keep buying it because of the story though

Yeah, the rest of it was fine, which makes it an extra shame that that single part was too much for my money. I'm desperately trying to find something else because it's fun to have a monthly title to be excited for, but nothing so far is grabbing me like I hoped.

I never realized how awesome of a band name that is!
