Description Watercolor
9" X 12" Arches 140lb HP paper

This is the first time I painted a squirrel. Not sure how it'd come out, so I used recycled paper, painting on the back of an old exercise.
Inspired by this photo challenge.

Hahaha, going nuts...great title!
I was making a tour now, following the link you left here. saw other challenges pics, and...I like your landscape here, and the squirrel looks like he is...going nuts over the nut!

I really challenged myself in painting this, for the photo ref is not at all appealing. It is now a week and only 2 entries Thank you Hanna for your comment

Cute little fellow! And what a wonderful glow you managed to give to the coat, well done!

The glow must be due to the Phthalo purple that I like. Thanks copine

Which brand is your phthalo purple? Do you know the colour index number?
If they carry the brand in my Paris art supply store, I might give it a try; I kind of like the phthalos - they are so nice and crazy!

Apart from that, I've totally gone off buying purples - much better to mix your own. The only tube I still use is dioxazine violet which is great for mixing interesting darks. (I'll have to check and see if this might not even be the same as your phthalo violet, which is why I'd like the colour index number.)
My other purples/violets look very nice when the paint is still wet but I find them boring and flat when dry.

I forgot to tell you you could see the phthalo purple in its pure form in my previous painting of cat's fur.
