Are the inner bits inhabited as well? Would that be the high-class end of the city (protected from the outside) or the low-class (cramped and stuffy)?

I think inner areas of tree are place for industry and infrastructure (water, electricity, transport etc.).

Are there other zipline-carriage-whatever-things to get in and out of the tree? Do the blimps actually "dock" there, or is there another means of getting to/from them, or are they just background images?

No; but I do see an artificial bird, never noticed that before. And the pipes that make up the "trunk", they're probably for waste disposal along with support.
