Description Another Silhouette of the Desert Big Horn Sheep. Once again, these desert big horns were very hard to find for me. After about 10-15 hours of hiking, and over the span on three days, I found them. They didn't stick around for very long and didn't allow me to get any real great close-ups, but it was an awesome experience.

Dang that's an amazing photo, you're very lucky to have seen them! Quite a lot of hiking you did. I wouldn't have been able to do that.

That's a lot of hiking! You got a great shot from it though, I love the detail in the background and the inclusion of the tree (on the right side) in the foreground, it really adds a lot more depth and shape to the whole picture. Perfect exposure, too. Just a very nice shot

I love how this was done in silhouette, something I haven't really seen in a wildlife shot. Nice choice of aperture as well - since the blur of the background really forces the viewer to concentrate on the play of the darkest part of the image against the almost watercolour quality of the background.

Thanks a lot : ). Yeah I was really pleased on how sharp the "Black" part of the image was shown. The background turned out very nice as well!

Thank you very much! Yeah, they are so much more rare than the other bighorns, and let me tell you, in 105 degree weather -- it gets real frustrating to find these guys. ha. Iamidaho pointed out that these guys actually have their horns further from their face than the 'mountain' big horns do.

yeah their horns are way more spread out than the rocky mountain bighorns, really cool looking though. its a shame there are so few left

So true. I just wanted to get some shots of them before I move further north closer to glacier and yellowstone.

Fantastic Shiloute, you must of been in a deep deep canyon to get that kind of shading with such a bright background.

Thanks a lot I was in a very bright spot where the whole bunch were, but this guy and another ram went further forward to scout things out, so I ran to the other side to see where they were going and I got some great Silhouette lighting. It actually wasn't quite this dark, I just boosted the blacks a little bit and got the result I wanted.
