Description Using ink, I was able to create a piece inspired by a seashell still life. For this piece, I wanted to bring awareness towards the issue with carbon emissions affecting sea life, especially sensitive shells. As of now, seashells are becoming more fragile and dying out due to acid levels rising, affecting many ecosystems. From the cars we drive to the companies we buy products from, all those emissions end up in the atmosphere or absorbed by water bodies, especially the ocean. This is not only nature's issue, as sea life itself provides a great resource to most if not all people in some way.

What we can do to prevent more harm is simple, make sustainable choices, learn about your carbon footprint, and work towards educating people about current issues which may easily change our future for the worst. You would be surprised how many people are unaware of what is happening...

Great still life!
The texture on each sea shell is very sharp and you did a great job with making the texture different in each shell. With the message I do appreciate that it isn't so in your face about the situation. I seen a lot of environmental art and most of them drive me crazy with how forced it is. Or it's so to the point where it doesn't leave the audience to think. I like the subtle cracks in the shell and the monotone values helps create the mood.
Now I don't really want to get into this topic too much since it's a little touchy, But I would argue that the solution isn't as simple as it may seem. There's a lot of factors in it that goes against some solutions.
But that doesn't mean your drawing doesn't hold any value to it. This is a well done still life that approaches the issues very well. Great job!

Thank you so much! I'm really glad you love it.
I see what you mean, I have seen a few that do force out the topic, but other than that I don't think there's enough environmental art on here. Could just be me however.
Oh no, feel free to say your true feelings, I'm all for people confronting me about an issue with a different perspective. I do agree, the solution isn''t as simple as don't drive cars or switch to electric. There's definitely places where a solution leads to different problems, which is why it's so hard to combat these type of issues, especially ones that keep growing.

You’re welcome!
Over on Instagram it’s everywhere and it’s incredibly annoying. I think my biggest issue with the message is that some people think it’s that simple. If it were to be that simple to stop your carbon footprint or reduce it significantly. This issue would of been resolved years ago. That’s why I like this drawing. It doesn’t force anything onto you and leads the viewer to think about it.

I have a giant list of cons that makes this problem so much harder to resolve. I’ll just list them in bulletin points. If you see something you want me to clarify, then feel free to ask me.

• Natural ways to get energy is also harmful to wildlife.

• The oil industry

• In the US specifically, public transportation is the most unreliable thing (unless you live in a big city like New York or Chicago).

• This is mostly the US again. Reducing the demand to buy supplies from China to reduce factory work, which is leading to their high pollution rates.

• Other counties may not care about this issue and if they reject another country’s solution about the environment. We can’t do anything about it.

• Garbage wise, it’s extremely difficult to locate and travel out in the ocean. It’s one of the most dangerous jobs out there.

• Telling everyone to change their lifestyle to fit the more eco friendly solution. Some won’t have a problem with it, but others will.

• Money, everything revolves around money.

Okay I rambled for too long. I would love nothing more then to reduce pollution. And I’m sure there’s a great solution to what I have listed here. But it’s extremely difficult unfortunately. :/

I saw it there quite a bit, thankfully I don't use it anymore or my feed would be cluttered with Australia fire posts.
That's the thing, it takes more than just changing a factor, people have to be willing to take the time and consider other problems they might be doing while trying to solve an issue. This is why it would need to take a lot of ideas to make a solution, and even during the process it might result in more damage. I can totally agree with the entire list, I was a little surprised with the public transport aspect being unreliable since I take it so often to school, but then I remembered the time my bus would get cancelled. Also yes, money is everything, but so is decisions. For example, corporations attribute to most of the pollution we have, and if people didn't give them anymore money, they would be forced to change. Then again every business has their own shady practices...
