Ya-hoh~! We are now officially back on track with the Newcomer Challenge!
And I am very much exhausted at this point, so after all this I am probably going to wean back into doodling-n-chilling again.
This is what I get for going all out in art instead of doing small things. L(///LĀ Ā )
Now this isn't the first pick my youngest brother wanted, but still someone he absolutely loves. So I'm quite happy to properly have The Hero reveal himself in Smash, in this case the default Fighter is Eleven.
I find it kinda interesting that they chose to make the newest protag the default Fighter, but I guess it also works in favor of how the Reveal Trailer flowed. After all, we didn't just get Eleven. Despite the surprise being slightly spoiled, seeing Eight and Solo (especially Eight) was truly a treat for my siblings and I.
What with being exposed to Dragon Quest for a long while thanks to my brother's love for the series, I feel I can easily work something for all four of these boys. It's just slightly tough for now, as the default is a character who I actually have little knowledge over. But I got my brother a pre-order for DQ11 for his graduation from high school, so we'll be learning about the Luminary and his story soon enough.
I'd rather not look up the Japanese gameplay for now, as it'll spoil even more for me. So bear with me when I type up his paragraph later on.
See, if this was Erdrick, or especially Eight, this would've been super easy! Ah well, I can just update the info as I go, no~?
Now then, all my good tidings aside. I know people have had their usual doubts-n-off's about these recent Newcomers, especially Eleven here.
But if I have to cut my rambling short from when I freshly spoke of it during E3, just let it be known that we've always had characters that initially appealed to the Japanese fanbase primarily, but that didn't stop others from loving Smash as it was. The addition of the Dragon Quest heroes should be no different, aside from that given banter of the "more swords" stuff. I would prefer to stop there before we have to line up all the points and rebuttals of this point in time.
Basically, all I want to say is, as much as you want to have your salt-- just take it in healthy increments and don't give it to anyone who doesn't want any.
(Please consider this from someone who has been in that position of building their own salt mine for you all to stare at.)
Someone wanted somebody, and no one is going to like everybody. It's as simple as that.
But I'm not here to be too preachy, I just wanted to speak my mind, just like everyone else has. So I thank you for understanding.
Back to Eleven's actual art, I tried not to have to include a Fighter's weapons with these poses, but I really wanted to do something proper-n-heroic for the Hero. I at least tried my best to keep it simple, even more so because frankly I am awful at drawing swords-- ironic seeing how much I like swordguys, eh?
Well, I make do with what I chose to go for. I wouldn't be surprised if the blade got bent in the process. (Sorry, Erdrick...!!)
I also was real picky about getting Eleven's hair right. Flat hair with a widow's peak is a good example of something I just don't draw well, but it didn't mean I couldn't try. This was the first attempt of two, to which I had to keep referring back to my brother to see which one he thought was better.
And of course, the first one was just fine. I've been having this pattern of doubting my first tries lately, so maybe I should try running through with things again.
A~nd I have typed too much, so to whoever was able to read all this, you get one orange and a cookie!
(You can pick one if you prefer one over the other~)
Now I shared these earlier, but here the practice doodles of Eleven that I did while I was away in Japan: [link]
