Jail is a PC box for humans. I've never found a more accurate analogy.
But these interactions! Brilliant!

I have to most inconvenient super power of focusing too much on completely irrelevant details in comics. That's why I'm now wondering what those rufflets taste like.
Also: artthytjawetgbgrsyj Sammy! You need to include him more. I don't care if you have to break the story.

Wow this page gets all my feels!
I love your stile how it's has some manga feel in it but it also seems like the (Western?) stile in there too. That's just how I see it!

Thanks!
I started out emulating an anime style in my younger years, and have gradually drifted away from that into who-knows-where. Disney style? Maybe.

I was going to say American Comics but those are much more darker, probably the Disney style is closest.

I modeled him off how he is in-game, haha. In Rustboro, your rival ASKS you cordially if you want to battle... and then obligingly DOESN'T BATTLE YOU if you say no. What kind of self-respecting rival would wuss out like that!?

True that. Really, in the Hoenn games, Wally is the self-respecting rival who actually behaves like it. Ha ha ha. XD

I think you actually said Sammy earlier but I forgot i should have checked my bad im sorry... ._. But it's nice to see that you were able to sort out the ending to the page!
I really wondered why Robin had never been screened at pokemon centers after it was explained with Lassie, but I kept forgetting to ask. :V Now I know. They need to change their system - I doubt it's very common for a person to have only pokeballs and no license to back it up. It would be good practice to COMPARE the license with the pokeball registry, too.
I love how you draw mudkip's face~. The way you make the mouth and eyes curve with the shape of the head is so fun to look at!
If the world looks like that through BrendanVision™, then I can see how he finds the good in everyone. Are researchers only allowed one pokemon per route because they have greater motivation to REALLY overcatch an area for a population study? For trainers, they have no reason to catch anything that they aren't going to train or trade. Hmm... That explanation doesn't hold if there's a limit to the number of catches allowed to a trainer, too. Maybe the limit is based on the least number of pokemon a profession would feasibly need? Researchers can do their work without catching, so there's no point in letting them catch very many that could be taken by trainers instead. Who makes these rules? More to the point - who do the ones in charge of the rules favor - trainers or scientists? This is getting increasingly off-topic sorry
Loving the detailed threat display when Talon's shouting about overcatching.
The side dialogue between Sammy and Dante is clear and fun. ovo It brings some color that pages like this need, so nice choice. I also really like the dynamics between Brendan and Talon. It makes me wish that Robin had Sammy so we could see more of the other two together. I'm guessing Talon is going to go with Robin to make sure she doesn't ruin Brendan's chances anymore?
That foot poking out from under Talon on the "Harmless eleven-year-olds" panel is perfect. We had button quail for a while at my house, and they sat like that all the time. Did you pick up on this from images of birds or experience? Or is Talon just transitioning from kneeling to sitting-with-his-feathers-devouring-his-feet? Screaming snake-tongue Talon is pretty great, too.
This solution is so clever fhda For a while, I thought that Brendan would have to quit research and become a trainer to connect them on their journeys, but this is a much more interesting story. It gives Robin more motivation to seek changing her ways, and even more of a reason for her to connect with Talon.
More insecurities from Robin? I wonder if Brendan picked up on that instead of taking it as an insult. I wonder if I read that panel wrong and she's not feeling self-doubt. ONLY TIME WILL TELL.

No no, the Sammy comment isn't directed at you; I often have a hard time commenting when I read Nuzlockes because I forget everyone's names, so I'm throwing names in my page descriptions so readers will be able to comment on characters without having to hunt twelve pages back to find their names.
If Robin had tried to heal their Pokemon in big-city Rustboro, they probably would have been asked for ID considering the Center is right by a trainer school full of unlicensed kids. It's supposed to be standard procedure in the way that checking photo ID on unsigned credit cards is supposed to be standard procedure... so almost nobody actually bothers, especially not tiny podunk Pokemon Centers like Oldale. Sinn and I actually got really in-depth about exactly how the Pokeballs and boxes and stuff work even though it'll never be fully explained in-comic; we are silly like that.
Ah, I should have put this in the page: researchers can get around the one catch rule if needed, but they have to submit a project proposal and get it approved before doing any large-scale catching. The key to the one-catch rule is that it's not just capture, but sale of Pokemon that's important in this world. Researchers have special privileges and tools compared to a normal trainer, and they often have access to the populations of lots of rare and valuable Pokemon species that aren't domestically bred very often. So they could easily exploit their position for profit, using their privileges to screw over the less-advantaged 'normal' trainers who are trying to make a living doing the same thing. The limit is supposed to encourage researchers to study the environment instead of catching and selling the environment for personal gain.
And uh... in this story, this particular rule is a government regulation; the government usually sides with the trainers because trainers are the ones who strengthen the economy and make money whilst scientists just take money for silly studies that may or may not show useful or convenient results.
Quail do that too? My good friend had a huge number of chickens; in the summer we'd sit outside on the porch for hours, drawing pictures and watching the chickens derp around and sit in funny ways. So I think all my Torchic inspiration came from them. (Though the threat displays were most definitely inspired by this hilarious owl .) I'm super jealous that you had button quail; those things are so precious.
I'm glad you like Brendan's solution! I wanted to try and work research into the story because I found it kind of sad that although every single main game in the Pokemon series begins their story focused around labs and research, they immediately drop it and never speak of science or collecting again as soon as the player appropriates enough tech and Pokemon from them that can get on to the 'real' plot of battling. (And Robin certainly 'appropriated' in this case.) Are the Pokemon games just an extended parable about why labs shouldn't trust teenage interns to do their jobs?
Time will definitely tell. Thanks for all your awesome comments and observations; it's a real pleasure to discuss worldbuilding with you.

Very nice job, I do agree with Robin. Brendan's being way too much of a good guy, helping out a stranger that went out of their way to steal his best Pokemon.
