Description Samus as seen on Metroid Prime 2: Echoes.
This is actually a replication of some concept art for that game.
Made this over the weekend on an application available only on the WiiU and 3DS, called Art Academy.
It's a simple paint program with a lot of traditional media aspects, no layers, no undo, etc.
So it was challenging, but a whole lot of fun!

Wow, this was done in Art Academy? Β I was going to say this isn't exactly all that new looking compared to your other stuff, but with no layers or undos this is pretty close to perfect. Β VERY nice...

Thanks!
I'm really enjoying Art Academy. All its limitations make it a bit more challenging, but it's still he'll a fun.
I'm glad you think it looks near perfect... I just wish that this wasn't copied off concept art. Lol

Ah, it's not like you traced it, and it's instantly recognizable, so that's good anyway. Β I've definitely seen a lot of good art come out of things like drawr.net where there are like 8 colors + half-transparency that stacks and mixes into thousands/millions of colors afterward, it can definitely inspire when you know what you're doing anyway.. ._.

yeah, it seems that being limited seems to make artists want to do their best.

Very cool. You've taken the simplest of art programs and limited tools at your disposal and showed us what you're made of. Definitely not an easy task whatsoever but the results paid off in my honest opinion. Great sense of depth and detail.

Thanks Bowser!
I actually really enjoy working with that app, though I do miss the undo. I almost want to go out and get me some real pastels and try to work with that lol
For something that was $3.99, it has a lot of potential, even with its limitations. I love how the colors are made to blend (pastels) and they can be smeared a bit, but if smeared too much then the paper will begin to show through.
Definitely has a "learning" curve, but I actually have a lot of fun doing the trial-and-error thing with it.
Thanks again Bowser, and keep on checking up on my posts on that community. I already know I will be drawing more on that, than I will on my cintiq!
I think its mainly because of the community aspect of it...
LOL

Yeah, I took was missing the Undo button.Β  It's definitely a very true-to-life traditional medium experience, where you get no chances to undo.Β  The thing that stinks is that if you're wanting to switch to another tool in the middle of something, it locks you into your current drawing as it stands and can't erase anything else after you've made your decision final.Β  The best you have is to go back to the same tool again and color over it if you've made any mistakes.Β  It's a nifty little program though, I must say. This was as good as it got for me with the app (was my first try): bowser81889.deviantart.com/art…

Definitely looking forward to more from you though.Β  I don't blame you for enjoying the community aspect of it.Β  At least you're getting more attention there than here on dA for those types of drawings, haha.Β  I'll still always be here though as much as I can.

Any time dude!

Yeah that "fix art" option is a bit annoying. Also the gamepad's screen is extremely slick... I wish it had a bit of texture, the stylus slides over it very easy and that doesn't lend itself well to drawing.
Don't worry about me drawing more with that app, I'm still bringing all my artwork to this account, regardless of where it originates... whether it's made on a sketchbook, or laptop, or cell.
I'll be sharing all of it on here!
I'm just the kind of person that thrives on the interaction, and when it comes to art... well that is what I'm all about, and I get more feedback over there. Not to worry though!

Nice sketch, too! I like that Sonic you made, keep on drawing, man!

That's very true, the GamePad screen is definitely not the best one to draw on. It's a thick screen so it slides sometimes. Doesn't quite have the same effect as say, a more professional tablet might have.

But it certainly works out well enough at least for the purpose intended.

That's good to hear though, I would miss seeing your art if it wasn't uploaded here anymore.

Thanks, haha. That's my Sonic fan character, Reign. Glad you enjoyed the sketch however kiddie-ish it looks.
