Description
Oiwa, the infamous epitome of Japanese ghost-women, from the kabuki drama "Yostuya Kaidan". Oiwa never bothered with cursed video tapes, she just did her thing at will. Sadako is a total noob compared to this lady.And I made fun of her. I'm probably going to face her wrath for this. I'm serious, too - there's a legend that says if you go visit her grave in Tokyo (it's really there!), your eye will swell up just like hers did.

from the various depictions of her i've seen there is discrepancy as to which one of her eyes was disfigured, some show it being the left eye while others show it as the right.

And I just have to tell you about a new anime series called "Ayakashi", which is about classical Japanese horror tales - and the first episode features Oiwa! I immediately thought of you while watching it and wanted to tell you about it - if you don't know about it yourself already, of course

Hey, you ought to do Kuchisaki Onna (sp?) if you're doing japanese horror women. You gotta have heard her urban legend... her name means "Mouth-splitting woman"- does that ring any bells?
