Good natured and level-headed, Daniel is a responsible and sensible person, often putting 200% of effort into the things that he does, usually at his job and is often described as a very dedicated worker. Brought up with good morals, he was taught to be patient and kind to whoever he meets, even to those who were mean and foul, as well as lending a hand to whoever that needs it as it is the right thing to do. But this also gives him a blind side of being too kind and trusting, sometimes mislooking the idea of ill intents or fake/pretentious acts, often enough may seem naive and easy to be taken advantage of.

He is quite passive in person, a pacifist in fact, usually looking for ways to solve things peacefully and sometimes chooses to keep quiet about things instead if he feels the outcome of the confrontation will not work well and chooses to bear with it instead. Because of his passiveness and lack of engagement he is often more observant of little notes or things that are often mislooked. He can also get very oblivious at times, often becoming unaware of a certain things or is unable to read the atmosphere, quite slow to get into it. He is pessimistic at heart and fears for the worst instead of the good things (usually to himself), in matters where it occurs when he gives optimistic advices to people but he himself follows none of it. He also has a low self-esteem and often self-deprecating, which he always give less credit for himself, much less than he deserves.

▵ BACKGROUND ▿
Born in a relatively stable household, the Hyland family was a close-knitted family that shared an abundance of love together. His father worked as Chief Police in the town where they stayed, till an unfortunate discovery of their mother having near-final stages of cancer, which later in a few years robbed her life. Daniel was 10 by then, and the family relationship slowly made a turn, as a part of their father died along with her. Despite fulfilling his responsibilties as a father, he grew very detached was not the same happy man he once was.Daniel was a boy who grew up all too fast due to the family situation. His beginning interests of wanting to be a police like his father was replaced with an interest in Medicine. Stemming from the helplessness he felt when their mother pass away, he felt compelled to want to be in a profession that saves lives. He excelled exceptionally well in highschool, and thus was given many scholarship offers. One scholarship invitation in particular caught his interest, it was a few states away, in UC. Having heard about its well-equipped facilities and a well-established education institute, there was where he went, although reluctantly at first because that would mean he would have to leave his dear sister for a while. Another reason for wanting to live away from his father was due to his sexuality and preference for the same gender. Despite finding out at an early age on his interests, he kept it a secret from his father who was strict and conservative. He also didn't want to add to the already straining relationship between him and his children. He is a good father, but he fears he would not be able to accept it.His college years so far has been pleasant, 3 years of Pre-Med school and now he has reached the senior years of Medschool, where he is preparing for his clinical rotations in different wards in Colville Hospital and is closer to getting his M.D. He also helps in the school's clinic on a weekday basis, and as an older student he is also referred to as well to assist students in Student Services.Meanwhile when it comes to the town, Daniel seemed desensitized about the town's odd and bizarre reputation, perhaps due to the interest his sister has in these kind of subjects (which he sometimes regret enabling her), and perhaps a little interested, although he seems nonchalant about it when asked. He occasionally keeps an eye on his sister, as requested by his father.
