Two years after they came back to the future, a certain incident happened which caused Rod and Laura to experiment with time-traveling and they managed to open a time warp and ended up in the year 1902; with no way to go back, they spent 8 years there. Circumstances forced Laura to sacrifice her freedom to protect her new close friend and her brother. She gave up herself to Zepar, the Dark Pterosaur, who made her immortal.
For 100 years, she's been known as Kami Ike, living inside the Akuno. She was sent by Zepar on several missions to give her want she desired, including giving her new followers (which is exactly what it sounds like).
For a year, she was Kyra's best friend; to keep her safe, she needed to get Kyra away from her in a way Zepar wouldn't suspect and kissed Kyra's boyfriend Cole, destroying both relationships in the process.
After season 2 and the Dark Pterosaur's defeat, a part of her was recovered in the black cosmos stone, which is now used to remain control over Laura and make her oblivious to her former self. Due to a risk of Laura possibly snapping out, she is rarely sent on missions.
When she is the last resolution, she confronts the D-Team. During the tough battle, Max snatches the cosmos stone and frees her of Zepar's control.
She is now a much mature version of herself, ready to fix what her goodwill started. She keeps her distance from strangers and avoids social events.
