This is weirdness, I know, but--I thought that Aang's odd expression was, like, maybe him contemplating eating the baby and then I looked at Katara, and she looks like she's in on it (!!) and now I can't unthink it!!!

Nothing against Kataang shippers but this is what immediately popped into my mind when I saw Katara's face;

Yes, they can bend. In an interview Bryke were asked what Katara And AangΒΏs kids would be, and they said they could be waterbenders, airbenders or non-benders. Kya here is an airbender.
