Description Inspired by 's awesome design for Rosto the Piper -

After seeing her Rosto I wanted to give him a shot as well Rosto is my #3 favorite Tamora Pierce character. (Nawat is #2, and Dom is #1, of course! )

I'll probably update this pretty soon with different head shots, but for now I wanted to submit this. I know the "Front" doesn't have Rosto wearing bracers, but I wanted to show what his sleeves would look like without them.

I should also thank everyone who commented on this research piece:

Top #3 was the clear winner of that one. Although I still think Rosto would look good with some kind of tunic over that shirt....

Hey, this looks great!

I definitely like the hair, the style of which so far in Terrier hasn't been mentioned. I also have to agree with whoever it was that said the front view looks a bit young. I'll paste the research I've done on him so far here because it's not that long.

lean/slim, muscled, deadly looking

sideways forked, Y-shaped scar in left eyebrow

high cheekbones
thin cheeks
long nose
full lower lip, thin upper - think you got that well

buckle? - so he wears a belt with a buckle, though I like yours

Thanks for the comment! I like his hair, but I'm not sure it suits him...? I want it to be somewhat stylish but not overly so, and also something that says that he's a dangerous cove too... so somewhat messy... and not too long... gah. I actually got his hairstyle from a photo I found online... I'm rambling, sorry. >_< Thanks for the comment though!

It's fine.

I think it suits him in this picture, but I usually thought of him with slightly longer hair. No, I think it's fine. Rosto's hair will remain open to interpretation.

Ooh, an open vest...? Can you find me an example? I've been doing a little research, but for some reason it is really hard finding quality images of Medieval clothing online. (At least, it has been for me so far... :/ )

If it's only the open vest then it isn't accurate. Hot but not accurate. I'm not completely positive about the medieval accuracy but in renaissance times (the peasant clothing was quite similar to the medieval times) you would see men in open vests. My brother and I work Ren Faires and at one point he got himself a peasant outfit [link] (he asked me not to show his face to the interwebs)

I really like your design for Rosto! A lot of peoples designs (that I've seen) make him SUPER muscley/manly, and that's not how I picture him. I like yours a whole lot better. Great job!

Thank you! Yeah I think I like to draw him slim because that's how I always pictured him when I read the books...? Gosh, I don't know why I can't recall specific details now, but when I think of 'pretty Scanran' as well I don't see him as being big and muscle-y. I'm glad you like it!
