Description There was this one walkway in a part of Clermont-Ferrand that is higher up in the mountains that was just covered in these little guys.

They are formally known as "Pyrrhocoris apterus".

They are very common in Europe, feeding mostly on seeds and fruit, especially Linden seeds. In my country the literal name we give to this beetle is the "blacksmith".
