First, I sketch everything on paper. The only thing on here that was sketched was Alter. The background and logo were all done in Photoshop. I'll be happy to do a breakdown of this wallpaper for you on YouTube if you want to know more about the process in detail.

These are the selection tools: www.designerpunch.com/sites/deβ¦
I'll use the Magic Wand tool to select areas in my inks layer and add color on a layer below that. These are your flats/base colors.
You can create a new layer above your Flats layer and paint on that with the brush tool. You'll want to use a graphics tablet for that. The Wacom brand of tablets are the most popular. If you want a cheap tablet but still has the key functions you'll need like pressure sensitivity, I recommend the Wacom Bamboo series. You can find them on Wacom's main site or on Amazon.
I sometimes use the pen tool or the lasso tool to make specific selections when I'm coloring, like the highlights on Alter's hair.

I understand! Using Photoshop can be difficult for people new to it.

I'm really thrilled to see how nice the effects go. Especially with the lighting and the others that comes to play. This will also be useful in other things such as regular drawings, which can be nice. The otber effects could be useful as well, especially if you really range to make any nice touches to make the wallpaper unique, like those they you added. Its pretty nice tho hopefully, itlllbe useful to try them in the future to match the theme to it

Yeah, I may reuse some of them in future drawings, but it takes a lot of thought planning out how each background I make should appear. Sometimes I don't get anything decent unless I spend time experimenting with different tools and options, but that's part of the fun of doing this sort of thing.
