It is said that once a Month a small world knows as Little Planet appears above Neverlake, this dimensional planet is the home of the Time Stones. While Dr Robotnik's Death Egg is being repaired on Angel Island where it crashed, Robotnik goes to Little Planet in search of the Time Stones, where he can rule the world throughout History.

It's Up to Sonic once again to stop Robotnik as he heads to Little Planet in order to get the Time Stones first, thwart Robotniks plans and save the Future, Robotnik has yet to release his deadliest creation: Metal Sonic

This game was the first to introduce Amy Rose, who followed Sonic to Little Planet and has been chasing him ever since and also the first to introduce possibly sonic's deadliest nemesis, Metal Sonic

Fact: this game possibly had the most Sonic levels ever made, cause there are 7 zones with 3 acts, with Past, Present, Bad Future and Good Future versions possibly about 72 levels last time i tried to count i may be wrong lol

The game was later re-realeased for PS3/360 with Tails as a playable character and the choice of US/JP soundtrack
