An idea I thought I try out, you see there are 3 Sonic Games where besides Special Stages have specific places where Chaos Emeralds are found: Sonic Adventure, Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic The Hedgehog [2006]... Although However... There are Emerald locations in Shadow The Hedgehog but it all depends on how you proceed really.... Sonic Unleashed: Sonic all ready had the 7 emeralds but lost their power so he had to return them to the Gaia Temples and Generations were all boss fights for emeralds...

Well anyway here is a picture for the Chaos Emerald locations for Sonic Adventure - 1999
Dr. Eggman wanted the Chaos Emeralds to feed and empower Chaos to Perfect Chaos

Green Emerald: Ice Cap, Angel Island but fell into Eggman's hands until Knuckles intervened

Yellow Emerald: Originally in Big The Cat's possession until Froggy who became a part of Chaos ate the emerald and was summoned on board the Egg Carrier

Purple Emerald: Found by Tails upon one of his Test Flights [not the Test Flights i gave the girls however...] then snagged by Eggman

Blue Emerald: Found in Windy Valley, then lost to Eggman during the fight with Knuckles also

White Emerald: Found in Casinopolis but momentarily snatched by Eggman...

Red Emerald: Was found on the Jungle Trail of Mystic Ruins by Tails but was snatched by Froggy, then it was used for the Tornado 2 but was lost after Big crashed the plane outside his house.... it was found again by Sonic and Tails in the Super Sonic Story until...

Cyan Emerald: It was kept in 'Birdy's' possession [Amy's bird friend] and stolen by Eggman
