Beautiful piece! The perspective is a little off in the floor, but I actually kind of like that... it gives the piece a storybook look and an interesting sort of atmosphere.
Again, very cool!

Jeez, what do they have you doing at work that this talent is wasted?
This is a sweet piece of art, really liking the shading and the reflection.

Why thank you
My duties at work are mainly problem solving/game scripting/figuring out how to accomplish things/doling out work to others. It's really not what I want to spend my life doing, as you might have guessed. I do the least art of all our artists except for the one artist who has been there longer than me, and the way things are going, I'm slowly sliding into a clone of his position (all work, no art). "Promoted into purgatory" is what I like to call it.
At my company, the longer you stay there, the less art you seem to get to do. Funny thing is, the other artist-who-doesn't-get-art-to-do and I both have the best approval track records. We have more first-shot approvals (when the licensor looks at it and says, "it's great as-is!") than anyone else on our current projects. Consider this: Early on in the development of this game, I had an opportunity to do the character art (after convincing my boss not to outsource it to someone outside the company as some of our art often is). Around the same time, other artists began work on the environments. All the character models (all 26 of them!) were approved as early as mid-June, and we're STILL doing revisions on the environments. (I should also note that licensors tend to care a lot more about the way the characters look, too).
I could go on and on but I think you get the idea. Basically, I'm in the market for an ART job where I won't feel like I'm wasting away, but I'm not opposed to sticking it out here to beef up my resume more. Alas..
