Description

Don't you hate those annoying younger siblings, the ones that push you into situations that you'd rather avoid?

It's the same with John Shepard, for almost 20 years he'd forgotten what it was like to have Jane in his life. Still mourning the loss of his Liara, his friends and even his entire reality John finds that Jane, who survived in this new reality at the expense of his own counterpart's life, lives up to his memories of her.

Instead of letting him mope around his cabin on the SR-3, or in a hotel room on the Citadel, Jane comes up with the idea that she and Kaiden who were already going out on a date should turn it into a double date with her friend Liara and her brother. While John had gotten to know this reality's Liara, he is still unsure of his feelings towards her and is conflicted about whether he is betraying the women he loved who died a year ago in his reality.

“Here we are.” Jane beamed looking at the establishment.

Kaiden had a neutral look. “Are you sure this is a good idea?” He asked, still uncomfortable with public affection.

Jane grabbed his hand and pulled it around his waist. “Of course I am, I'm Commander Shepard remember!”

John couldn't believe it, it was the same place he took his Liara, the Liara from his reality some 14 months ago for a romantic lunch during one of their stop overs on the Citadel. “You've got to be kidding me.” He murmured in disbelief.

Liara beamed and put her arm around the human, clearly not understanding the meaning behind the comment. It had been less than a week and she'd already realised that she loved him. “Come on this could be fun.” She remarked.

John raised an eyebrow is disbelief.

“Yeah what Liara said.” Jane smirked at her brother. “It's not everyday we get to let our hair down.”

John knew none of them understood, how could they. They all had that coming, seeing the galaxy burning and all but destroyed had that kind of effect on a person. The fact he was the only one person from his reality present wasn't lost on him either.

I should had brought Garrus.

He could feel Liara looking at him, with a huge smile on her face. She was examining his response. He knew the asari had developed feelings for him, but he keep seeing someone else standing there, his Liara not the woman he'd come to know over the past week, the nightmares were still haunting him and no matter what he did they still continued to disturb him. Continued to wake him in the middle of the night, they forced him to continue to dwell on his past and all he had lost. He had entertained the thought in recent days of starting an relationship with this Liara, but doing so he felt unfaithful, not to mention it was unfair to her and also just too great a risk if something was to happen.

Looking over he saw he had Jane's attention as well. The look she was giving him spoke volumes. Knowing he was fighting a loosing battle, and being outnumbered by the females present he surrendered. “Alright, only this one time.” He sighed. He could feel Liara's grip on him tighten as her excitement swelled.

Jane smiled at her brother. “Oh no, after this Liara and I are going shopping, we have big plans for tonight so you boys better go and buy a nice suit after this.”

Kaiden glared at Jane. “You're not serious?” He asked, a wave of panic registering on his face.

Jane laughed. “I certainly am.”

“Oh that's just great.” John muttered. Just what he needed, not 1 but 2 double dates in less that 8 hours.

I should had gone with Garrus on the SR-3, rather than allowing Jane to talk me into this.

“Don't worry John, Liara and I will make sure you have a good time.” Jane beamed at Liara.

Before he and Kaiden should say another word the two women had pulled them into the restaurant.

Another of those teaser pics from my Parallels fan fiction. I really need to get back to writing that, maybe once this virus I caught leaves me in peace I'll get back to it. This image I hope shows just what type of person Jane is and just how far John has fallen from the man we all once knew and loved. Here he wants to do anything but go on a date, a double date at that. But Jane and Liara have conspired against him and poor Kaiden is just alone for the ride. This is one of my older images I have been holding off to release, I have re-rendered it using the new lighting set-up I did yesterday.

With John's expression, I gave him what I would do in that situation something my wife commented on saying he looks exactly like me, in looks and expression. Oh my! For Kaiden I tried a "Are you serious?" look he wanted to be there as much as John. Public affection isn't his kind of thing. I tried to keep his character intact from the games. Jane has a more cheeky and devious look like a master planner who's plan has just bore fruit and Liara, she is happily looking at John totally obvious to the meaning and feelings behind his comment and reaction. Remember this is a different Liara from the games, her innocence from ME1 is still mostly there thanks to the absence of John in her reality.

You might also notice that each character has a different hoodie. I even did a small texture mod to give Shepard a SR3 hoodie. While you can't see it here, Liara has an SR2 one, courtesy of Jane, Jane has the N7 hoodie a cut-off one at that and Kaiden wears his Spectre hoodie. Yay hoodie central. I need to get one of those off ebay for myself.

A big thanks to Padme4000 for doing the hoodie pack for John so quickly. It's surprising that he was the only character I couldn't find a hoodie for when setting up this render.
