Well, first, I found a style I liked, and sketched it out. Then I just redrew the outline as best I could for the shadow, then inked and colored!

Absolutely lovely! You have really great inking and coloring skills! The whole thing looks amazing! And seeing as your scanner apparently ruined the colors, it must be even better on the actual paper. Damn, I would kill to see it...
