Description Sailor Moon as a Green Lantern, delighted by her first space flight experience. (Sailor teleport does not count!)

I was watching the "Green Lantern First Flight" movie, and the "sailor-esque" transformation of the main character gave me an idea for a GL/Sailor Moon crossover.

Usagi looks cute flying around. She could fly into space in the manga, but she didn't do it very much, so I suppose she'd still have this reaction if she flew around with a green lantern ring.

I know, but I based the pic on the Anime-Usagi. In the manga she is too mature and grown up to fool around

Yeah,I mean if it's Serenity, sure, I'd like to see her with the white ring. But if it's the dim bulb, THAT's what scares me. That's like giving her a gun.

Hey, she gained enough power to blow the planet up in the manga and avoided blowing it up.

She once did that in her Super form, which in the manga was actually stronger than her princess form.

Sailor Moon is MUCH weaker in the anime, which also regresses her character development away from the climax of each arc. The manga also made it clear that she was getting stronger whenever she got a costume change. Even before that, she took out a planet at the end of the 2nd arc.
The Super Sailor Moon form in the manga occurred in the 3rd arc when she was given a power-up by the whole team, expect Saturn. Even with her power she couldn't Pharaoh 90 though, which was instead defeated by Sailor Saturn. Her Eternal Sailor Moon form can in the 4th arc where after everyone else got their own power-ups, Sailor Moon got power from everyone, including Sailor Saturn.

This is why I like the manga sometime than the anime. (Even thought they all died in the manga. Didn't they?)

Usagi revived everybody, though manga's ending was kinda ambigious.

Was Darien (Mamoru) a douche in the manga?

GodDragonKing In reply to ssaffr01 [2012-12-12 20:04:20 +0000 UTC]

Bit of jerk at first, but he and Usagi got over their problems. One of the main problems I had with the anime was how he was handled, he and Usagi really only become a couple when they get their memories of their past lives back, in the manga they were getting closer beforehand. Also in the manga, even if Mamoru didn't fight that match, he was still very supportive, and in the anime, all we have him do after the 2nd season is be fought over by Usagi and Chibiusa, and while I agree with US haters of her that her English voice in annoying, I didn't like her characterization in the since she's much more bratty than in the manga, and mostly just fights over Mamoru with Usagi, and I really didn't like her being the focus of the fourth season even Usagi still did all the fighting. In the manga, she was more useful and didn't have a rather disturbing Electra complex that could erase her from existance.

I've heard that next year's new Sailor Moon series would be a complete rewrite more similar to the manga. One can still hope

Anyway, even if the manga is superior almost in every way from a storyline point of view, I found the characters more likeable and down to the earth in the anime (in the first season only however, the other ones are more like one extended filler).

In the manga I found them either too mature for their age, or too perfect. Just my opinion though.

GodDragonKing In reply to Maelstromknight [2012-12-15 16:20:09 +0000 UTC]

I find the main change I preferred in the anime was that most of the henchmen didn't have much, if any, personality in the manga, though I wasn't a fan of how goofy they started getting in later seasons.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Maelstromknight In reply to GodDragonKing [2012-12-15 16:44:56 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I agree with you. In the manga most of the enemies are cookie cutter types with no motivation save pure evil... In the anime thay have real personalities... the commanders at least. The "monsters of the day" are another matter ... from the second series onwards they're cannon fodder only .

Yeah I never cared much for the monsters of the week in the anime.

And then of course I missed the next couple lines because of laughing so hard. But it was worth it.

First Flight made me think of how much I wanted a live-action Sailor Moon movie.

Hell, we already got our live-action Green Lantern, and despite having no space cockroach Parallax, I liked it.

You may watch "Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon"... the live action version of the series. Awesome story, if you can bear the cheesy (but cute) acting

p.s. I liked the GL movie too (beside the shitty Parallax).

Ericss-2010 In reply to Maelstromknight [2015-06-29 06:16:12 +0000 UTC]

Wow. Are you people kidding me? The movie Parallax design was a HUGE improvement over the ridiculous evil yellow space mantis from the comics. Still not a good design, but at least it was one that actually looked scary (which the embodiment of fear should definitely look like) and I could take seriously.

Maelstromknight In reply to Ericss-2010 [2015-07-27 17:08:33 +0000 UTC]

While I find the lizard-bug design of the comics childish, the crappy cloud-thing of the movie could be made better, as all the rest of the movie... just imho.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 0

Greyman101 In reply to Maelstromknight [2011-10-24 15:14:33 +0000 UTC]

The movie tried to merge Parallax and Krona, like how Iron Man 2 merged Crimson Dynamo and Whiplash. That was fine, but I still wanted the space cockroach.

And yeah, I know about PGSM. I meant a big-budget live-action movie with a talented director like Bryan Singer or Jon Favreau. Something that won't make us cringe in shame by making us remember how we actually liked Power Rangers as kids.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Maelstromknight In reply to Greyman101 [2011-10-24 22:07:25 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, but "Crimson Whiplash" was made much better than "Kronallax" ...

Ummm, you meant a realistic, well done, Sailor Moon movie? O___O"
I cannot even imagine it, but it would be awesome...
