Rarity's jaw dropped in horror seeing the Golem. "It's alive." she breathed, voice trembling as the thing grinned at her, showing off far far too many sharp uneven teeth, she hadn't intended this, she'd just wanted to see if she could make a puppet for a customer's horror movie, "I've created a monster." Then, against all odds, defying all known reason and even what laws of magic and about golems she knew, it spoke.Β "Hello, mother." he said in a voice not unlike her own, but raspier and deeper. It was horrifically wrong.

Β The Concept of Golems is pretty old... the idea behind them was around even before the dark ages.Β
In its simplest context, a Golem is an inanimate construct (like a doll or a statue) that was given life through some means to perform a specific action... Similar in concept to a modern day robot. Most Golems in contemporary stories are either made of mud or stone though there are ones made of metal (strong and powerful)..
However, in this case a mannequin or some pieces of cloth have been given life and it doesn't seem to have been designed to serve a noble purpose from the look of things.Β

you forgot mention that the golem originated in Jewish folklore and in most stories he's inscribed with Hebrew words in some tales, such as the word emet (ΧΧΧͺ, "truth" in Hebrew) written on its forehead. The golem could then be deactivated by removing the aleph (Χ) in emet, thus changing the inscription from "truth" to "death" (met ΧΧͺ, meaning "dead") and yesΒ i'm a nerd

I thought about including that but i've seen it used in so many different places that it just got stale so I opted to omit it and just give the basics knowing that people like you would come along and fill in the information.Β
That being said, if the Hebrew words had been on this particular Golem I would have included the history of it...Β

Quite a lot of places actually, from studying about robots and finding out Golums were technically one of the first robot like creations in fiction or folklore to looking them up online on sights like Wikipedia to other sources Like Anime and even a Lego game in the past called Spy Bots.Β

this reminds me of the Fanfic Twilight Sparkle: Night Shift
only in the story the the mannequin didn't cut off her mane or have a horn of thread spools.. ehh so not exactly the same thing, but that story is what comes to mind. Over all though awesome job, I love Rarity's eyes in this one and really like how you textured the mannequin.
