Pfft that happened in an actual episode. He turned himself into a platypus so he and Perry would be on even terms. They fought and had tea and fought some more.

I either didn't see that one or I don't remember. STILL CUTE THOUGH.
Maybe Batman and the Joker ought to try a cup of tea every once in a while.

Except for Dr. Horrible and captain hammer. That wouldn't end well.

Expert, are we?
But really, I love to see your doodles lumped together 'cause then I get to see all the different poses and expressions and styles that you are totally rockin' at in one place.
(Completely unrelated, but this made me laugh and feel better about myself as an artist: www.progressiveboink.com/2012/… )

Hardly. :V
Haha it's weird looking back on most of these cuz I was still trying to get the hang of the style. I mean I'm still not great at it, but it's getting there.
(Oh man, I've seen that guy's stuff before and it always makes me feel a bit better. I mean, comics are hard, but... Yikes.)

How long ago did you draw them? I guess some styles are easier than others, but for what it's worth I think you're pretty spot on. There's a definite PnF style, but from what I can see there's a lot of style-independent details too (like Doofs dark circles and Perry's three hairs). Getting a hang of the details speeds along the process, I think.
FOR REAL. And the worst thing about it to me is that he's been drawing for so many years and continues to draw the way he does. It's like he has three facial expressions, 10 poses, and two kinds of characters: thin and muscles-out-the-wazoo, and that's IT. I know I love to draw dragons, dragons, and more dragons, but I do try to learn from the mistakes I make and actually show some growth. I guess when you get paid as much as he does it just doesn't matter anymore.

Hmm, a month or two ago for the oldest ones I think? Hasn't been very long. Doof's circles and Perry's little hairs are canon, actually! But you're right, the devil really is in the details. Get those downpat and suddenly the whole drawing process becomes easier.
I think that's true too. If you have a steady paycheck and the only real criticism you get comes from the internet you'll never have a reason to grow. I'm trying to work on having poses that aren't so stiff and differing facial expressions because I know that's a thing I need to work on. Admitting your style is shit is the first step to getting better.

Guess who got a tablet
It's just hard to wrap my head around the idea that art can be purely a commercial thing, no personal investment in it. I dunno. I'm trying to work on facial expressions too. And paws. Paws are fucking hard, yo.

Yess, I fell in love with yours even though I only used it for 10 minutes or whatever like 3 years ago. But I have been putting it off because they're so gosh-darn expensive. I bit the bullet the other night though and splurged, only because I used the money that mom and dad gave me for Christmas, so I don't feel bad about using like my loan or finanicial aid money on it or anything. It was this one
It's bigger than I expected it to be for a small, and not as difficult as I would have thought it'd been. The only thing about it that I kinda don't like is the USB that connects it is really short, and I have to connect it into the back of my computer, so I have to turn the tower to have enough room. I got it working in SAI, but I'd like to figure out how to set the buttons on the pen. So far the button nearest the tip acts like a left click and the one nearest the top of the pen activates the dropper tool.
Yeah, I mean, what is life without art, and what is art without life? It's like when mom told me I should stop drawing dragons all the time and draw people so I can sell my art. Like, if people want my art, they're gonna get dragons. I don't want to draw people, I'm not going to put any life into it.
Really? I usually end up making the expression of whatever I'm drawing. I've caught myself on multiple occasions. Like when I've drawn something sad, I'll suddenly be aware that I'm pouting or if I draw something angry, my eyebrows will be furrowed. It's weird, haha. You know what I would like to see you do? One of those expressions memes. I'd like to try it too, actually, because it seems like it would be really helpful for consistency (especially now that I'm redesigning Adea).

Dang, you shelled out for a Wacom? Impressive. I've heard they're really nice (the act that they have an eraser end is pretty dang sweet). Idk anything about Wacom software but on my tablets there's a settings option. You installed the drivers, right?
Hell ye. You can't live your life to please people. They can take what you're offering or they can suck it. Don't change what you draw just because some people don't like it or more people might like something else.
Haha yeah, that's what I meant. I keep straight face no matter what I'm drawing. I probably look like a zombie. :V I kind of want to do one of those, but I'm hella lazy and idk which character I would draw. Or would I draw myself. *shrugs* You should, though! You actually finish things.

Well, Stevie has Amazon Student (2day free shipping WOOH) and he let me use his account so not only did I get it really soon, I didn't have to pay shipping. It's been long overdue, I think. I mean, I've come a long way in digital art since I started (with MS Paint no less), you know? I just thought it was worth it and I feel like I will now be able to do things I've wanted to for a long time; I've been dreaming about using a site like VistaPrint to make things like stickers and greeting cards.
I thought about getting the tablet that has the pen with the eraser, cause that seems really neat, but I decided against it, so mine is just a regular pen. Yeah, I think I'll play around with it some more once I get a few English papers and stuff out of the way. Things have been high-stress lately, so I haven't been able to play with the tablet as much as I would like. Steve and I just got out of the hospital, and I have to take the GRE this Saturday (god I'm uberfucked because I have retained 0% of the math I need for it).
Exactly. The people I work hardest to please genuinely appreciate the effort. So like with the black and purple dragon I drew for you some time ago, even though I knew you weren't into dragons, I also knew you would appreciate the thought and heart put into it. Not everybody is like that though, and it's fine I guess. It just means I'm not the artist for them.
Nahh, it's just you're just so in the zone. You would draw Hanna or {...} nicely, I know you would make them real cute. You could also draw yourself, or Josh. And no matter who you picked, the results would be really interesting. It's on my to-do list for sure. I just want to make sure I have enough time to do it all at once (relatively at least, you know, just not like 6 months between individual expressions).
