This is so wonderful! i adore that you captured the "Ron" facial expression. It kinda looks like you did a wash with a brush from a very dark pencil, than a blending stump.

Okay, i was just reviewing your gallery and, i figureed i'd just offer my humble opinion in regards to the shading on some of the drawings(not all) but some. On the faces, you should try a little bit of a subtler shading method, because some of them seem just a tad bit dark to me This is not a criticism, just a suggestion ^.^ if you don't understand, take This picture of Ron fr example and how you shaded his face and then look at your portrait of Nicole Kidman. Hers was in my opinion, perfect! Keep up the really awesome work! Might i make a request for a drawing? Could you draw Johnny Depp? heheheheh BTW: i think the hair is fantastic, and as the others have said, great job on caputring his features

Thankyou for your input! I so appreciate it when people give nice good comments like this. Johnny Depp, hmm.. I was actually thinking about it the other day because he's going to be in a new movie "The Libertine", and he looks pretty good in it

wow, youΒ΄ve done a great job. ItΒ΄s just perfect.
For improving: The hair.--> there should be some more contrasts in it, to look real. But I know, drawing hair is so difficult.

lyvvie In reply to Amonijak [2005-12-04 15:23:26 +0000 UTC]

Amonijak In reply to lyvvie [2005-12-04 17:39:50 +0000 UTC]

I donΒ΄t know. Some more lightenings on some steads. Hm, how could I explain that? hm,... it looks a little bit like the hair only was one area, you know what I mean. There you could put some more dark stripes.... -- for seeing some single hair, or strands of it....

oh my lord.... my poor english...
haha, did you get it?

Your style of value structure always has a very liquid feel to it; I love its application to skin and to edges. I suppose if I have to give some critique of this, I might caution you against a homogenous application of that shading technique and urge you to seek areas where a few very selective edges are made sharp and defined, such as under his chin or eyebrows, or hairline. However, I absolutely love this portrait. It's a very difficult facial expression to convey and Rupert Grint is no easy subject to draw, but I recognize him immediatly.

Yeah I went in right after high school at 18 and got it done in 4 years by taking summer school every summer lol. It burns you out, I don't recommend it lol, though I did maintain the scholarship I was blessed to receive. And lol. I love history and culture in art, that's why I'm going for an art history MA and maybe even PhD. And thanks lol.

lyvvie In reply to AmberPalette [2005-12-04 03:19:47 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I'm 18, a Sophomore at the college. I would love to take summer courses, and I guess I am getting 6 hours this summer with the Spain trip and all, though I'm not sure it will count towards my major. I feel like I am getting so far behind, because I started college when I was 15. I didn't graduate high school till 16 though. I just took 9 a semester my first two, and so I feel like I've been such a slacker.
