Description I used different paper with this one that has a grain to it. It was mainly to try out a different texture of paper. Personally, I do like it, but crisp white bristol board still allows for way more detailing to be achieved (much better for close ups too). References were my own photos taken at London Zoo. I only did just a hint of a background here.

Please enjoy.

Used: Varying 'B' graphite pencils on fine-grain heavyweight cartridge paper
Size: 29.5 cm x 42 cm

I really like the detail. It is good that you minimized the background so that it didn't detract from the subject.

awww...he is beautiful. i like the suttle background. yes, i can see the texture. it gives the drawing a whole different look compared to smooth paper. my current diary i jut bought has textured paper, so im experimenting in that. i do find you cant get as much detail in, but you do get the nice soft effect of the texture.

Yes, you do give up detail for texture, don't you! Texture does open up so many possibilities and is great for experimenting. That's such a great idea to get a book just for doing that.

Thank you for your comment Bec and all your input. It's always valuable to me.

It's so FLUFFEH looking! X3 Your fur always looks so nice~ You captured the camel attitude perfectly. It's so defiant! And I totally didn't realize that you made up the background. It just fit in so naturally!

Thank you ^^. I'm so glad that the background works, it was a last minute idea. I never thought that he might look defiant ... that's interesting.

You know I really do admire your pencil drawings a lot. The Camel looks great and I think the angle you chose to draw him/her in was very clever. Because its a hole different view from behind. Your shading always looks great and you have a talent for drawing fur. Besides the hump on there back I have always thought theirs toes where cool looking. XD You did an wonderful job capturing his/her features.

Thanks so much. I actually enjoy drawing fur so maybe that's the reason. I like unusual angles because it makes the picture look a bit different. Thank you for the comment, as always give me a lot of information to go on. ^^

First of all, that title is just adorable. As always, your skill with texture really shines; The fur looks excellent!! Such a fluffy animal, heheh. Your different choice of texture on this definitely gave the whole thing a softer appearance than usual, but it really works in this case, with the soft fur of the camel. The minimal background complements everything well and brings out the camel (and reminds me of a barren desert landscape!!).

Very well done as always~.

Lol, the title just popped into my head and I had to use it. Thanks Saku, it's good to know that particular things are working with this, like the texture. Thank you for the input!
