Entirely not what I should have been working on, but damn if it isn't tempting to do traditional art sometimes. I'm quicker traditionally, which is comical I suppose considering digital art is often seento be the quicker medium. I don't doubt that it is, I'm just a dick when I get in Photoshop, I'm too rigorous. I think in all honesty I could have spent a little more time on this, but I'm happy to leave it here for now.
Faber Castell Pitt Pastel Pencils, Stabilo Carbothello Pastel Pencils, my new loves Caran D'Ache Pastel Pencils. Strathmore Toned Tan Sketchbook as my paper because I'm still too much of a wuss to use something
better quality in case I ruin it. Please feel free to ask me any questions or if you have any tips for using pastel pencils, I'd totally be open to listening!

I'm kinda starting out with pastel pencils after finally figuring out how to use them! Any tips with shading and coat brightness/ reflection? And on doing manes? The one above turned out so flawless and perfect <3

This shit is stellar, okay? Like, some real classy traditional art shit. And LORDS it's the details that I love, all of the textures are so well done. The muzzle especially tugs on my heart. That fucking sharp-ass eye. I love the fur on the base of the ear and everything that's going on with that neck. You've done such a fantastic job with this, honestly. I showed my family because I love bragging about my talented internet friend and they were amazed.

I think this quite lovely, and IMHO you should NEVER feel guilty about working in traditional "real world" media. Too many people think digital is everything, but I appreciate both, and you very obviously have wonderful skills with pastels.

I thoroughly recommend pastelmat for pastel paper, it can be quite expensive but my goodness it's like drawing on velvet. You can add countless layers of pastel to it and it holds so well you don't need a fixative
