Doesn't matter if it's simple or not, art is about texture, form, color and lots of other things. Mondriaan may have made some of the "simplest" art of the early 20th century but no-one would say anything negative about his work on that score. As it is you've given them recognizable fur texture (which I think is well done), the colors are well chosen, complimentary. Don't be so hard on yourself! This came out beautifully!

The guy I live with is an older man named Roy, he's 63 and used to have this page. He's a very colorful person and has done a lot of music, art and writing is his life. I like his stuff, well, a lot of it anyway. (That's what happens when you're in love, I guess!) When I first moved in I was always going "Ooo!" and "Wow!" when he'd sing me a song or show me his drawings in his old sketch books. I've also read a little bit of his voluminous output in writing. He's not famous, although he has some local notoriety here as a musician, one who pops up on stage every 5 or 10 years. I asked him what he thought was his best work in anything. He said, "There was one performance I did in 1988 where I knew I had the audience totally captivated. I was scheduled to play for 45 minutes and at the end of my set, I stood up and said 'good night.' A woman rose immediately and said, 'Oh no, you can't stop now, please play some more!' The whole audience agreed by shouting, clapping and cheering and they all finally stood. You can bet I played my heart out for the next 90 minutes and when I was done, everyone, me included, was weeping. I don't know what I did, I don't really understand how it happened - but it did. That happened ONCE. Another time I had been trying to schedule an hour to record a guitar piece I'd written, one which I'd never gotten right on stage or in a studio. That morning I started playing and lost control of myself. I never played so clearly, so on time, so thoroughly a part of the music - and it's never happened to me again. THAT one is my master-work." I listened to it; it's an Indian raga played on an electric guitar sort of like Jimi Hendrix, and I have to tell you, it's amazing. Even if you hate the song, you have to acknowledge he's playing his heart out and in its own realm, it's as close to perfect as can be.
So I asked him, "What about everything else you've done?" "It's all practice, leading up to those two things. You have memorable practice sessions, memorable performances and readings and exhibitions, but there's only one or two diamonds in all of it." The he smiled and said, "It's kind of like being a practicing homosexual - you may never get it right, but you never lose interest in practicing." He's funky, and a little crude at times, but I think his explanation, vulgar or no, is quite apt.
Look at it this way: How much art do you create which you think is total garbage? If you're realistic, not much!
