Description After looking at my Guile pic colored in that semi-Omar Dogan style, I felt it was just too soft.
So I went back to my style. The more anime influenced, hard edged look suits this character and series much more.
Maybe I'll eventually do some pics in that style.
We'll see.

Hope ya' dig, ya dig?

No problem man. So you like the artwork of the classic Street Fighter designer? That amazing man! I've never met anyone who found inspiration from one of the best designers in capcom history.

Yeah man. Bengus and Nishimura Sensei are my heroes. In many ways they helped me improve my art greatly. They also made me become a harsh critic for what constitues "good" character design and good anatomy.
It's unfortunate that Capcom went in the direction they did artistically these days. If only they continued to pay attention to SNK and did not let sooooo many of their awesome artists go.
Oh well.
Either way, I'm glad you dig.

Yeah I know. Their artistic style is lacking what it used to be. I remember back in the day when the artwork wasn't trying to be something it wasn't with the watercolors and such, the characters were beefy but you know not steroided out like most of the fighters in SFIV and all that shit. To be honest, it's like Capcom's lazy now. While SNK, who only has what? Only 200 something employees manage to make a work of art, Capcom continues to spam the same bullshit over and over. SFIV is without a doubt just an HD SFII with SFIII and Final Fight characters in it, filled with racism and such. I believe SF5 should continue on with Alex. They didn't even let him shine enough. SFIII was the shit.

Amen!
Sf III was THE SHIT!!!
Especially third strike. And yer right, Alex was a great character that did not get to shine at all. His move set was quality and it was a welcome change from all the generic "shotos".

You do know that all of Alex's moves were made to slice through Ryu's right? The shoulder uppercut cancels out the Shoryuken move, the flash move cuts Ryu's hadouken in half. It was the shit! He's like K' to Kyo!

True. Plus they're mostly tribute to the legendary Hulk Hogan's moves over the years, especially the CHOP.
That's classic Hogan!

Yup, indeedy, sort of how they paid tribute to Mas Oyama with the Shou fighter Ryu.

Y'know. For as long as I've been a SF fan(almost 20 years) It's only recently that I hear that he's loosely based on Oyama. I think it's B.S.
Takuma Sakazaki, I can actually see the resembelance. Ryu...not so much.
I mean there is enough of a lack of details that one could add that concept to him but, his story has only one real aspect that mimics Oyama's life and that's the recluse part.
That all just occured to me jus' now

Well in Ryu you can somewhat see the resemblance if you pay close attention. Most pictures STEAL Mas' stances. It's also believable because of a fighting game character called Reiji Oyama from the Power Instinct games. He looks just like Ryu, but he's based off of Mas Oyama as well. As for Takuma, you're right, but capcom actually bites off more than they can chew. This SFIV ink splatter bull, not happenin'. All this to appeal to americans? How racist.

Some pics slightly do. Like the evil Ryu pic in Snk vs Capcom. But the majority of his in game graphics don't really resemble anything I've seen Oyama actually do.
Takuma on the other hand,
#1 is actually doing moves based off of Kyokushin Karate.
#2 actually does forms from the style.
#3 actually resembles Oyama. Part and all. LOL.
Ryu, doesn't actually do straight up Karate moves. And a lot of his style is made up.
Also, Power instinct comes from an era when everyone was biting off SF. So he prolly actually IS based off Oyama. But as we can all see those games didn'nt go anywhere.
I really liked the Old lady in that game. She was an awesome concept.
I based a character of mine off of her. I'll upload it soon.

It's also a coincidence that Ryo and his family practice Kyokugen style karate, which is a parody of Kyokushin Karate. Also, I'm lookin' forward to the picture man.
