So, this is a concept piece for a supposed folklore airship in my Wasteland concept world. To the people of the desert wasteland; The Widower is a fabled yet feared wasteland tale, its believed to have a crew of undead called the "Cursed", some of these undead dating back to the Collide disaster in the 21st century. It is the biggest airship in the wasteland being a 21st century converted cargo ship. The tales tell that it only appears in Fire Storms; massive whipping sand storms producing scorching temperatures and winds up to 150km an hour or stronger. During these storms, many airships ground their anchors and desperately ride out the weather having their ships fighting against the wind currents. With these airships grounded and unable to move, they are practically defenseless. The Widower with its massively powerful engines and thrusters has a much easier time slicing through the whipping fiery sandstorm will approach these grounded airships, either using its hull to smash smaller ships to pieces, having its own crew board the other ship and kill or take its crew hostage, or using its 'Maw' to trap smaller ships. It does this with a makeshift 'jaw' like mechanism on the front, so when opened, smaller ships can be trapped inside where its crew will kill the crew of the other ship. The Widower is known for its signature air rattling horn blaring as it approaches its victims. When these horrid storms pass, the Widower is gone, leaving only wreckage's of its victims. Its thought that this ship flies with the storm currents, staying within it at all times as it moves along the desert wasteland, however, no theories have been proven.

Despite its hulking weight, this airship manages to stay afloat, most arent sure what allows for this even though it has such powerful engines. But, some believe it is powered by a strange supernatural energy from the Bermuda Triangle as this is where it sank originally during the Collide Disaster when there was still water in that part of the ocean. They also believe its this same strange energy that created the Cursed crew aboard it, keeping these dead bodies and souls "alive". Those who have claimed to have been captured but escaped often have a paler more sickly look to them and may seem to be delusional and mentally unhinged. Many of these folk describe their experiences similarly to each other; being imprisoned and left for days or weeks on end in rusty dark cells with little to no food or water, later to be tortured or used to tend to the ship and its crew. A description that seems consistent with survivors claims are that they all describe the Cursed to have distinct silver glowing eyes. Some survivors have even claimed to have seen or met the ship's captain; a supposedly odd humored, fanatical and deranged man. Very few have said they witnessed the man turn some of the ship prisoners undead with unknown methods. These poor souls that supposedly escaped this ship usually end up going completely mad and often take their lives or become violent due to extreme paranoia. Some folk believe that Cursed dont only live on the Widower, but blend into society if they look living enough. Although this uncanny folktale is really just a tale... most wastelanders truly believe in its existence.
