Awesome fic for anyone who likes Conan and Kaito being blood related. XD
Becky's a very talented writer, and I love a bunch of her fics to itty-bitty pieces. She's done some wonderful Zelda and Inuyasha stories as well.

"Mom? It's me--lemme talk to Dad, quick!"
"Huh?" Yukiko Kudo yawned on the other end, somewhat befuddled as she switched to her native tongue. "What? Who is this?"
"I need to talk to Dad." He pitched his voice as low as he could, trying to sound as much like himself as possible--drat, where was his bow-tie when he needed it? "Mom, it's me, Shinichi!"
"Oh..." His mother yawned again. "Shinichi...honey...do you know what time it is?"
"Never mind! Just put Dad on the phone, please!"
"Eh...alright..." There were muffled noises on the other end, and his mother's tired voice saying distantly, "Dear, your son wants to talk to you."
After a moment, his father's crisp--but slightly sleepy--tones sounded. "Shinichi? What's up, son? I would have thought you'd realize what the time difference is, here--"
Shinichi took a breath, gulping, then spoke. "Dad, why am I a thief?"
There was utter silence on the other end. Some part of Shinichi's mind registered that this was, quite possibly, the first time in his memory that his father had been shocked speechless.

How I became a KID fanatic:
1) Saw this wonderful piece of art and decided to read the story it was based on.
2) Decided that this 'Kaitou KID' character mentioned in the story was interesting, but I didn't know enough about him to really follow the story.
3) Did some research, liked what I found, looked for more character information.
4) Got the bright idea to search ffn for fics and stayed up wa~ay too late every night for a week gorging myself on fic.
5) Have read every Detective Conan manga KID appears in; still trying to find about six chapters of the Magic Kaitou manga. Only managed to find one of the movies so far.
6) Now obsessively check 4 live journals and the Many Cases One Truth Detective Conan/Magic Kaitou Fiction/Art Community every. single. day.
Yu-Gi-Oh is still my biggest obsession, but I've never had one hit me so hard before. All thanks to this cool pic, the brilliance of Gosho Aoyama, and the wonderful minds of all the fanfic writers in this fandom.
Total time to fanaticism: 1 week

Wai~! I know that fic! I read it shortly after you gave me the link to the Conan manga ^_^; Which I love you for, by the way, I just reached File 610 when they translated it and have watched all the movies I could get my hands on. Especially with the Kaitou <_<;

Ah! I finally remember what happens in that story. I haven't read it in over a year, closer to two, really. (or maybe three) I think I forgot to review it when I read it the first time through.
DC is a fun series, isn't it? I love it, especially when they tie Magic Kaitou and CC
