my big question is, what does it do to the books out there (from what i understand, all the books were considered an expanded universe, and confirmed to have been official canon. will this movie change all that?)

Episode 7 takes place, like, 50 years or so after episode 6. Β The only books I'm aware of are the ones that take place before episode 1, so I think they're okay.

after the original trilogy there were a whole series of books that followed on from return of the jedi: leia and han marrying and having kids. luke marrying mara jade (One of the emperor's ex-assassins/dark jedi's) and having kids. luke starting a new jedi academy. some of han and lei's kids becoming sith lords. chewbacca dying to save han (That was a big news story at the time because it represented the death of a major character). the emperor's force ghost possessing one of hundreds of clone bodies he made for himself and returning, and so on.
the books/comics expanded the universe hundreds of years after return of the jedi (there are books and comics featuring the great grand children, and great great grand children of han/leia and luke/mara)
until now, they were, as far as i was aware, they were official canon

Yeah, some of that's probably going to be rendered non-canon. Β Just so long as it's still considered canon that Boba Fett escapes the Sarlaac pit he fell into in ep. 6, I'm fine with it.

same. I read that story, and it was cool (Think it was in an anthology book dealing with the events before, during and after jabba's death)

You'd think that, after getting eaten, escaping, being stranded in the middle of a barren desert, and finding out that both your bosses are dead, it's probably time to rethink your choices in life...personally, I think Boba Fett would turn good after all that, and spend his days in the bars of Mos Eisley drinking his past away.

with his rep, he'd be getting a few free drinks.
plus, if anyone crossed him, we all know 'he'd shoot first...'
