The thought crossed my mind -- what would painting nothing, like the last painting, look like if I actually used some colors in it? This is the result of that crazy idea. Of course I did have an idea of what I was painting, another street scene, but I made a point not to actually paint something, only imply it.

I get the feeling of people walking along a bayshore line, sunlight glinting off the water, reeds and plantlife,  Good stuff Chuck!

Well, anything goes -- but your feeling is close to the scene I had in mind -- a street with people, carriages and rickshaws, tall town houses on one side, and on the lake side of the street, parks, tea and spirit houses and such. I actually painted it because it is a locale in Beneath the Lanterns, and I've never been entirely happy with that cover, so I decided, what the heck. I'm using part of this for the new ebook cover. We'll see if it floats.

Its one of the most colorfull works you've done,  you mentioned "rickshaws, Lanterns, Tea houses etc.,  Ever thought about doing something in a Asian theme?  Quipao wearing women,  Pagoda style houses and townhouses, etc...?

I am a big fan of Chinese landscape paintings and have a nice big colorful flower watercolor painting from a Shanghai artist hanging in the house, so Asian themes might be something to think about. I plan to explore this painting without painting anything style a little more, and I do think doing so with more vibrant colors would also be a significant change for me, which is what I probably need to do. Whether it would actually look like something, well, we'll have to see. I'm enjoying watching "The Rise of Phoenixes" on Netflix with its colorful costumes, and wonderful sets as well a great acting. I'm a big fan of Chinese TV shows, but never have quite gotten into amine and the like (I think the animation is just not fluid enough for me. Oh, well.)

Japanimation uses 24 frames per second as opposed to the standard 35 mil here in the west,  The "Speedo" effect has its drawbacks, over the past 30 odd years people both here and in Japan have been known to suffer seizures and epileptic fits due to the fast-flash of colors and movement,   the anime studios have kind of toned it down speedwise, no doubt to keep them salable (especially in the west! For myself i have loved anime since back in the late 70's long before Westerners even knew about it! I remember seeing some Chinese and Korean soap oprahs back in the 80's during my Army days,  they were interesting and dramatic(maybe even moreso than American soaps!)unfortunately they weren't always translated witch irritated me!

There is a lot of it on Netflix, I should really take the time to understand it. It's not that I'm short of time... The Taiwanese soap I really enjoyed was "Office Girls." A lot of fun, though it did get a bit soapy towards the end.

I don't watch much tv AT ALL,  Its all mush to me these days EXCEPT the superhero shows!  I haven't seen much of them but what i saw i like,  i can always buy the dvds!  Thats all i watch these days is dvds of old classic tv shows like I Dream of Jeannie and Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea,  Space: 1999 and the original Star Trek(natch!) etc... and classic movies, Mysteries, SF and et.all. P.S. OH! and classic animes of course!
Oh! again!  I almost forgot a Japanese series back in the 80's i saw when i was in the Army, about a traveling Shogun and his entourage',  They went about helping people during Japans Feudal times,  also battling crooks and greedy(and deadly)Land Barons!
Usually a big fight would break out near the end(great stunt work, even the females put up hard battles!) finally the Shogun would yell for the fighting to cease and he would open his staff and reveal his mark of state! After the no-goods were rounded up he'd pronounce judgement and IF they were REALLY bad its OFF WITH HIS/HERS HEADS!! They never showed that though but the badies got dragged off the screen..you KNEW what was coming!    Never found out the name of the show but it was fun though it got "formulaic " after awhile.

I love the color of this painting. and I think for me it look like an afternoon party under big trees, with people in colorful dress
But even without any detail, the color themselves are lovely enough !

Thank you. I am really trying not to actually paint anything specific. I have a scene in mind, but I leave it up to any viewer to decide what they see -- it's all good.
