24x12" 60x30cm acrylic on hardboardThe painting of the week. I'm coming up blank for landscapes. Maybe it's time for a change. I'm thinking I'll "borrow" a page out of my sister's portfolio and trying my hand at decorative pieces, using all the paints I don't usually have any reason to use. It's all going to be about colors. Colors! We'll have to see how that goes... In any event, this is just a quick Saturday morning exploration of the idea (on a board that would've been the painting of last week, if it hadn't sucked.)Β
I was down to half a tube of white and a half tube ultramarine blue, (I was using cobalt blue hue, but nothing replaces ultramarine blue in my book) Β so I had to place an order for paint. I don't do these things in half measures, so I received about 25+ pounds (11+ kilo) of paint this week, which should last for the next few years, if not my lifetime. My weird paint of the order this time around was "Pistachio" a pale, pastel green. I rather like it.

I also buy a random colour whenever I can... I agree that nothing replaces ultramarine, though, I work with gouache and am not even close to your mastery of colour, haha! Looking forward to see what you'll experiment with. Cheers

Living in a small town means you pretty much have to order paint online, so you might as well get what you think you'll need for the next few years. And a lot of that paint was white. I do go though a lot of white paint. Now all I have do do it figure out how to use it.

Oh! I see, I previously thought the 11 kilos were of the same colour. That sounds more reasonable, then! I am also from a small town, and order online about once yearly... I know what you mean!

Β And I buy the cheaper paints, the ones that come in the 500ml sizes. Lots of medium, less pigment, but it works for me.

I've have to concentrate on making the colors bright, for these. Not something I normally do.
